Forever
Derek's POV
I sat on the edge of Chloe's bed, watching her sleep. She looked calm and peaceful, a small smile gracing her face as I held her hand. Her hair was spread out across the pillow, back to it's original blond with red streaks. I liked it best this way. Not only did it look good on her, but it made her happy. I reached up and tentatively stroked her face, a smile lighting up my own. She was beautiful. It was different for me, loving someone so much. But love her I did, even if I didn't necessarily say it all the time. I had never been close to a girl before, but with Chloe it came naturally. When she had first come into my life, she had meant nothing to me, nothing more than a silly girl that I could use to persuade Simon to go after our dad. But as time passed and I learned there was much more to Chloe than meets the eye, my feelings for her began to change. At first it was just friendship, but soon my feelings continued to grow until they enveloped me. I found myself constantly worried for her well-being, ready to do whatever it took to protect her. My anger at her for her reckless actions that put her or Simon in danger. She seemed to be able to worry me sick and bring out the worst in me, but she could also bring out the best. And then I saw her feelings towards me change as well, even if at first she didn't notice it herself. She was different around me than she was around the others, though I couldn't really explain how or why. She stayed through me through every change, making sure I knew she was there and that everything would be okay. It meant more to me than she could ever know. At first I thought it was just Chloe being her selfless self, but that was before I found out she didn't like Simon as more than a friend. It was then that everything changed, for both of us. I began to notice the eager way she wanted to be around me, how much I put her at ease. I realized that I had hidden the same eagerness behind snide, sarcastic remarks and looming glares. But that's just who I am. It didn't take long for us to realize that our feelings for each other were mutual,, and when we finally kissed- there are no words to describe it. It just felt so right to be with her. Every time we touched sparks seemed to fly, the world seemed to stop. When we were together it was just the two of us. Together. Forever.
