Disclaimer: I don't own the Worst Witch

A/N: *waves* Hey folks, this is just a little something I came up with while watching the Big Fat Quiz of the Year (David and Miranda are hysterical! I've got more questions right than they have, and that is saying something!)

It's not perfect, but I couldn't get this out of my head so hope you enjoy it :)

Mask

She wears a mask

Not in the literal sense, like a young child on Halloween

For this is a mask, that cannot be seen

Just because it isn't visible, doesn't mean it isn't there

Just because she wears it, doesn't mean she doesn't care

Most of the time it remains, perfectly in place

Allowing her to portray herself with elegance and grace

Concealing her emotions, she hides behind the strict, cold façade

Mourning the life and the childhood she wishes she had never had

Heckitty Broomhead is the cause of it all

The reason she was forced to build a wall

A wall around her emotions, a wall around her feelings

Punishing herself daily, and never fully healing

Only when she's alone, the barrier does fall

And crumbling around her, lies the remains of her wall.

The emotional scars she bears cut deep

Nightmares and horrific memories invade her sleep

As the time passed by grew longer, the walls became so much stronger

The impenetrable barrier, near impossible to break through

And now she doesn't know what to do

For she has no idea how to begin anew

She knows she viewed as the Ice Queen of the school

She knows they see her as bitter and cruel

However every so often the mask will slide

Giving a glimpse of the vulnerable woman who lies behind

The woman who is crying out for help and is in need of saving

The woman who seems so close to breaking

Instead she pushes everyone away

Choosing to deal with things in her own way

Deep down she does care for them all: her colleagues and the students alike

To protect them, she really would fight.

Fight to protect the family she never had

Fight for the family, for which she truly is glad

She wears a mask

Not in the literal sense, like a young child on Halloween

For this is a mask, that cannot be seen
