Revelations Revisited

Revelations Revisited

Come and sit before me,

For I shall tell you a tale.

Of heroes, friends, and monsters,

Where golden hearts prevail.

Once in ancient Greece they say,

Walked a man unlike the rest.

And always there beside him,

Was his best friend through every test.

Back to back the two once swore,

We'll never be apart.

Together through the toughest times,

Brothers of the heart.

And through the years they traveled,

Growing strong and brave.

They studied lessons, learned to fight,

Dreamed of damsels they would save.

Together they beat the toughest odds,

Slaying monsters, even Hera's best.

Only one thing could ever defeat them;

And that was laying the other to rest.

But even that could not break,

The incredible bond they shared.

Herc would bring Iolaus back.

No one stopped him, for no one dared.

And their adventures still continued,

Until one dark, bleak day.

When Iolaus gave his life for love,,

And Dahak got his way.

Hercules searched through Heaven

Yet he lived through hell.

Without his friend beside him

Upon him darkness fell.

Then one day after bad boar stew,

A vision of the blonde caught his sight.

Iolaus came back to help him,

Returned, for a while, from the Light!

They made this one last journey,

One more enemy to beat.

Whole now for a moment,

The two knew no defeat.

In the end, Herc sacrificed his body

To save his best friend's soul.

Then when Michael came to see him;

To Hercules he told;

You gave your life to save him,

And all your precious humankind.

So life I grant to them and you,

With Iolaus always by your side.

So now they'll be together,

As brothers often tend,

Back to back forever

Brings my story to an end.
