Figures in the Night Part12
"What do you mean?" Daisy tries to act casual.
Shelby gives her a 'well?' look.
"Well, Daze, looks like your stuck. Better tell her, I guess she ought to know." Hunter says.
"Tell her what? I don't know what you're talking about." Daisy is nervous, but tries not to show it.
"You know what I'm talking about." Hunter tells her.
"Daisy, why don't you just say it? Why are you hiding this from me?" Shelby is a little hurt.
"I'm not, I have simply nothing to tell." Daisy says, more sure she is acting calmer.
Shelby can tell Daisy is acting strange and not her usual self.
"Come on, sweetie, tell her how you know me." Hunter says putting his arm around her. "It would be better if it came from you."
Shelby is worried about her friend. "Daisy, I'm not gonna get you in trouble. Is he your husband?"
"What? No, how could you think that?" She shakes Hunter's arm off her. "Shelby, I'm only 17."
Shelby really hadn't given it that much thought. She decides not to push anymore.
"How could you believe him?" Daisy gives Hunter a disgusted face. "I want you to leave."
"But why would I ever want to leave my dear wife?" Hunter flashes Daisy a big smile.
Daisy looks away. Shelby is now confused and doesn't know what to think. She looks at Hunter. He is good looking and no older than about 20 or 22.
"Leave." Daisy is getting angry and frustrated and doesn't know what to do.
"I'll only find you later, so don't be surprised." With that, he left, disappearing into the woods.
Shelby and Daisy look at each other silently for a moment.
"What is going on Daisy? Why is he saying he's your husband? Who is he?" Shelby asks.
"I don't know." Daisy shut her out by closing her tent.
Shelby stands there astonished.
"What are you doing Shelby?" Peter walks over sleepily. "You were talking kinda loud."
"Uh, bathroom break?" Shelby makes up an excuse.
"No, you were talking to Daisy. I heard you, now get back to bed, I'll deal with you later." He rubs his eyes.
"Um, what exactly did you hear?"
"Nothing, Shelby, you woke me up. We have a long day tomorrow, and your never going to want to get up. So go to bed." Peter is a little more awake now.
Daisy lies back down in her sleeping bag. "I wish he would just go away. What am I gonna do? No one can find out who he is." She says to herself.

Shelby distanced herself from Daisy the next morning. She stayed close to Scott to avoid talking to her.
"Ok, get you stuff together." Sophie shouts over everyone's talking. "We're going to walk another 5 miles today."
Scott helps Shelby take down her tent.
"Thank you." Shelby kisses him. Scott kisses back.
"Alright you two." Peter tells them.
They break away disappointed.
Shelby eyes Daisy. She can tell that Daisy looked away from her.
"Hey." Juliette interrupts her zoning out.
"What's got you so happy?" Shelby looks at her big smile.
"Oh, nothing. I just know a secret, that's all."
