This is my version of how Suzuka got dedicated to swordplay.
The rain fell hard against the ground. Suzuka sat in the basement waiting. "Where are they?" she asked Duriel, her mentor.
"Your parents should be here soon." he replied.
Screams were heard from above. Sounds of crashing pottery and breaking glass rang throughout the house.
Duriels eyes widened. "Come Suzuka."
"But..."
"COME!"
Suzuka followed Duriel quickley out of the basement door they broke into a run as they headed towards the woods. "What happened to my mommy and daddy?"
"They're gone Suzuka they're gone."
They're gone Suzuka I don't know where they went." Gene's voice brought Suzuka back to reality. "Damn they should have told me if they were going out." he mumbled.
"If they want to be by themselves they have no need to tell you Gene."
"But..."
Suzuka had already left. She was in her room now. She looked down at her sword and could just make out the blurred inscriptions. The first one read To Duriel I present the sword of wood. The second was addressed to her. It read To my dear Suzuka, Happy Birthday. She smiled Duriel has given this to her on her birthday after five long years of training in the forests of Irami on her home planet Lossi. It had been so long since she had been home. Too long. She wasn't going back though. Even if she wanted to she couldn't. It was so hard remembering why.
Duriel smiled as he handed her the sword. "It's yours now Suzuka happy birthday." He smiled. Suzuka had been stunned. The sword was Duriels prize possesion. He practicley loved it. She loved it too. There had not been one day of training were she had not loved and admired that sword. Space ships zoomed overhead. "Where are they going?" Suzuka asked.
"Suzuka do something for me. Go to the space ship port and get on a ship."
"What??? But???"
"No just go Suzuka I...I have to finish something. Heres some money. Make a name for yourself Suzuka be brave."
I guess thats why I wanted to be around Gene and his friends. They're out to get a name for themselves. Just like I was. Suzuka thought. She had run so fast that day. She got on the last ship leaving Lossi. Not until she was in space did she realize why Duriel had wanted her to go. The Kei Pirates. They were back. The ones who had killed her parents. They were now about to blow up Lossi. Suzuka gasped as she saw everything she ever had known and loved get blown to smitherens.
The days connected themselves after that. Numerous encounters with a certain memeber of the On Ten Seven. (OKay I am REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry to all the people who know how to spell that cause I know I'm spelling it wrong. Just so you know its the seven assain people from the Kei Pirates ok?) Her career as Twilight Suzuka. And finally meeting Gene.
He taught me a great deal and he'll never know it. Suzuka thought. She smiled. She had a job today. She was waiting for the twilight. Won't Gene be surprised? She hadn't changed at all. She got up and left, leaving Gene to be by himself.
Twilight aproaches. She walked towards her prey and smiled. Do you see me Duriel? I'm keeping my name and yours alive.
