Something random that came to me.

Six year old William was running around the house. If he didn't find is pillow before bedtime, then he was going to be in big trouble. He needed it because he couldn't fall asleep without it. Looking under the couch, he found three dead bugs, one clothespin and a dirty plate, but no pillow. He ran to the other side of the living room and looked under the table. There wasn't anything there, and William couldn't think of anywhere else to look. He walked up to his room, and looked under his bed. Three pieces of paper, but no pillow. He was about ready to cry when his Mommy came in the door.

"William, ready for bed?" The little boy shook his head.

"Why not?" His chin quivered.

"My pillow's missing." Elizabeth hid a grin.

"That's why we don't play with our pillows. Do you need help looking?" William nodded. After all, two people looking is better than one, right? The duo searched all over his bedroom, and then headed downstairs to search. They looked under the couch (which still had three dead bugs, one clothespin and a dirty plate, all of which Elizabeth removed), and then under the the table. The desk on the other side of the room yielded no results either.

"Is there anywhere else where it might be?" William shook his head. He didn't think there was anywhere else.

"What about in here?" Elizabeth strode across the room and opened the closet. William walked over and looked inside. Sure enough, the missing pillow was there. He drew the pillow out, and peered inside the pillowcase. Pulling an envelope out, he wordlessly handed it to his mother.

"Did this come today?" William nodded. Elizabeth looked at the letter. It was from Will.

"Thank you." She got on her knees and hugged the small child.

"Now you need to go to bed. School starts tomorrow!!" She carried William up to bed, and tucked him in. Giving him a kiss goodnight, she left the room and turned the light off. And that was the case of the missing pillow.

The End
