Lily Potter looked up at the clock on the wall in her living room. It was twenty to five in the morning. Her Husband, James, had gone to the weekly Auror meeting but that had been nearly eight hours ago. She started to pace around the room, her hands subconsciously rubbing her stomach while she walked. Lily was two months with child; she had only just found out the previous night and was planning on telling James as soon as he came home. Lily knew that her worrying was not good for the baby, but how could she not worry? It was five in the morning and there were Death Eaters and Voldemort after her husbands' blood and she had absolutely no idea where he was.

What if he was-? No don't think like that. He can't be, he's probably gone to some bar with Sirius and gotten drunk again and couldn't find his way home. It had happened before, but Lily had thought that after the way she had told them off, that they wouldn't do it again in a hurry.

Where was he? Normally the meetings finished by midnight. And that was at the latest.

She started to assume the worse. 'He's been captured…' her thoughts started to lead her to the nightmares that haunted her at night. A flash of green light, an evil laughter and James' motionless body as his face showed a petrified look on his face lying in the dirt on an empty Muggle street.

"Stop it!" she chided herself. "He's fine!"

'But how can you be so sure?' An evil voice taunted her.

'He is fine. He's probably just drunk somewhere with Sirius and when he comes home, he'll be- he'll have hell to pay.

'If you say so.' The voice taunted again.

Lily looked up at the clock on the wall again. Five to five, in the morning. Lily slumped down on the comfortable couch, although she wasn't feeling particularly comfortable in it, she was getting more and more worried by the second and had severe butterflies in her stomach. Where on earth was he!

At that moment Lily heard the front door open with a bang.

"Where have you been?" Lily looked up from where she was sitting on the couch expecting to see her husband walk through the door, but it wasn't James it was Sirius black.

Sirius clearly looked worried, his normally joyful face was white and sweaty, his usual joking grin was replaced by a severe frown and tears were shinning in his eyes. He took one deep breath. "Lily, Dumbledore would like a word with you in his office at Hogwarts," he rattled and added, "He would like you to come immediately."

"Why? What's wrong," Lily demanded, wondering if her worst fears were being realized. Wondering if she was just dreaming that her worst fears were being realized. She pinched herself while Sirius considered her a moment. It hurt; this was real.

"Lily," Sirius said slowly, "it's James. Something went wrong."

Lily wished she'd remained sitting when Sirius burst into the room as she felt her knees go weak under her. She heard someone running over to her, and in the next moment she felt the soft fabric of Sirius' shirt as he caught her before it all went black.
