Here you stand on the balcony again
Speaking to your people, all your men
Who bow with unquestioned devotion
And loyalty, you expect me to follow their motion
But I stare stoic and open-eyed
To your glamour, never before have I defied
Your word, but now is the time
For me to end your laws of crime.

Here you stand in my door
My pulse races through my core
Wondering if you can see, see the britches
That could never belong to a man of riches
Or the too long limbs that poke from my sheets
Gangly arms and snow-white feet.
You leave without another
Word, relieved I rejoin my lover.

Here you stand on the back-foot now
I see it in your face, the what and the how
You can't comprehend
How your rule could ever end
I step forward and you move back
And I growl and yell, you stare at my lack
Of reverence, but this moment was bound
To happen Father, I wait to be crowned.

Here you stand, my golden king
And former prince, unaware of the legend you bring
People will talk of you Arthur
The wonderous king of once and future,
And me beside you, perhaps not so grey
Merlin the sorcerer beside you in day
And the nights, asleep hand-in-hand
We'll rise with the sun, together we'll stand.
