Tears of Strength

Salty-bitter crystal droplets
Trapped in empty eyes
Never allowed to fall, no matter how hard they strain
I cannot cry
I locked the tears away long ago when I saw how they pleased them
Taking the easy way out
Hiding behind a frozen mask until it became true
Not daring to feel anymore
Locked away the tears and the feelings
Locked them away until I could never feel anything
Numb and cold and broken inside
But you—
You show everything to the world
Not a secret behind your bright eyes
Something I couldn't dare to do
It takes courage to feel
Courage to cry
To reach out and dare to trust
You're so foolish, so easily hurt
You cry, but you're the strongest one of us all.
