A Different Kind of Villain
"Man is to man either a god or a wolf"-Desiderius Erasmus
He always knew he was a villain. An unconventional villain, maybe but always a villain.
Even as he paraded around as a repented man, he knew deep down what he was.
The fire that charged SHINRA's greed was still in his veins no matter how hard he tried to deny it. His longing for a idealistic world overruled by a shameful lust for power and recognition that only seemed to grow as the days went on.
Reeve was a wolf attempting to deny himself of his true and honest nature.
How else did he manage to scrape his way atop such a ruthless corporation? He was no better than Heidegger or Scarlet, two of his former comrades that perished in the collapse of SHINRA.
The realization that he was no more than a wolf trying desperately to masquerade as a sheep who was happily riding this wave of jubilation post Meteor, when in he was really just breaking down with sudden, painful cognizance stung. The horror of his admittance showed on every inch of his face.
Eventually the madness boils over like a far gone case of rabies. Lost without what little structure SHINRA provided him and with feelings of hopelessness Reeve let his primal instincts take over. He throws the poorly constructed sheep clothing off and embraces who he is and what he wants. Peace could wait; right now he needed reassurance and some feeling other than despair but most of all he needed to feel in control of things again.
Everything had changed so fast; too fast and he only wished for it all to slow down.
And there she stood. She wasn't who or what he had in mind but a starved wolf would never pass up the chance at a meal.
And so the wolf took Little Red Riding Hood who didn't protest, in fact she reciprocated. Perhaps it was her innocence and naivety that made his attack all that more easier. For awhile the wolf was in control again and his fears calmed if only by the writhing young female beneath him.
With the sunrise the wolf would loose control as Little Red Riding Hood began to gather her clothes that lay scattered on the floor.
Now in the bright light of the morning sun her innocents seemed too bright for his dark, tired eyes and stirred up a unsinkable feeling of guilt in his gut. "So can ya can you drive me to Tifa's or something cuz I really don't wanna walk and it's hot today and can we stop and get ice cream, maybe? Please?!"
What had he done?
"Of course, Yuffie." He nodded as the klepto teenager pocketed a materia orb that didn't belong to her.
He was just like the others, he thought to himself. Tainting some form of innocence everywhere he went.
Reeve could pretend to be a good guy. He could pretend that he was a changed man and only wanted to make the Planet a better place. No matter how good a wolf's intentions are they still can't deny their true nature.
Reeve was a villain of a different sort.
"The modern Little Red Riding Hood, reared on singing commercials, has no objection to being eaten by the wolf." - Marshall McLuhan
Yes, I know this Reeve was darker than the Reeve our community generally displays but I wanted to try something new. My Yuffie, though not prominently featured can be interpreted in two ways: either she's an innocent young girl whose hormones got the best of her or she had problems of her own that she hid and was just as dark as Reeve. Or maybe she was just a user but doesn't that indicate something dark about her as well? I prefer the second one, myself. Enough with this boring AN. Please review and tell me what you think. Concrit is welcomed with open arms, flames are used for bonfires.
