The laughter sounded mocking. "Go ahead, fairy. Kill me, but I advise you to aim for my heart." The hand that closed around Bloom's arm was pitch-black and its' fingers far longer than they should have been.
Bloom stared at the demon who was guiding her hand to the face on the chest. There, were there should have been breasts, was a face. This face was unlike that of the demon, snow-white and framed by hair of the same color, but it had the same features, as if they were twins. Eyes closed, it did not react when the demon laid her hand over her features.
"Shoot, fairy, blast the face of my sister to smithereens."
Bloom couldn't be certain why she hesitated. But in that moment of hesitation, she sensed something beneath her hand and it horrified her. She tried to pull her hand away, but the demon's grip was firm and unyielding.
"What is wrong?" The demon flared her leathery wings, barely avoiding her absurdly long ears and stepped forward, bringing her body closer to that of the fairy. She laughed, revealing her sharp teeth. "Did you sense something? Did you perhaps sense what my sister commands, mmmh?"
