Santana was not one to be easily distracted- in fact, when she was studying, an earthquake couldn't even interrupt her thought process. People wouldn't expect it of her, but again, people didn't know much about her, did they now.
But alas, every person has one thing that can take over their lives; that can make them do things they wouldn't usually do. And for Santana, that was not a thing, but a person.
"Hey Santana?"
"I'm studying," Santana quietly murmured, her eyes moving across the page as she underlined phrases of importance. Her Literature exam was coming up, and she couldn't risk failing. The test was worth more than a quarter of her grade, and she was sure she was going to ace it. If only she didn't keep getting interrupted…
"Santana," the voice said again.
"Not now, please!"
"Please Santana, just listen to me," the voice pleaded.
Santana dropped her highlighter onto the open book, and turned to look at the blonde girl sitting two seats away from her. "Brittany, you know I love you, but please! I'm studying," Santana said angrily.
"It'll only take a second, I promise! I just wanted to tell you a joke," Brittany grinned, swiftly moving from the further away seat next to Santana, pushing her books across the table.
Santana continued to glare at the blonde, giving a curt nod to show that she was listening.
"Okay. Do you want to hear a joke about the 11th letter?" Brittany asked, clearly delighted at being able to say what she wanted to say for the past few minutes.
"Not particularly," Santana said slowly, pursing her lips.
"K."
Santana rolled her eyes, letting out a snort of laughter. "Really, Brit? Really?" she said, giggling at the stupidity of the joke.
"You're laughing, so it was pretty funny!" Brittany laughed, brushing the bangs out of her eyes, clearly happy she had made the brunette laugh.
"You. Are. Crazy." Santana said, playfully hitting the blonde on her shoulder, turning back to her book. "And now, I'm going to go back to studying."
"I have one more joke. Just one more, okay?"
Santana rolled her eyes again, turning her head to Brittany.
"Whatever I say right now, you have to reply with 'y', okay?" Brittany asked.
"Ugh, I have a feeling I know where this is going," Santana drawled, a hint of a smile playing at her lips.
"I don't like the 25th letter, Santana," Brittany said seriously.
Even before Santana said what she was supposed to say, she began to giggle, hitting her hand against her forehead, and groaning. "Brittany, I can't believe you just made two lame jokes in a row!" She said playfully.
"They were funny. You laughed, I laughed, and I just made your day more interesting," Brittany said with a playful wink, slowly getting up. "And now, you may go back to your studying!"
As Brittany walked away, books in hand, Santana watched, smiling to herself. Brittany's hair sashayed back and forth as she moved past the open doors of the library, and Santana couldn't take her eyes of off her.
Santana may take her studying seriously, but for Brittany? She'd give up even her best habit.
