Riku hardly ever got the girl.
The first was the redhead girl that fell for him instantly, blushing and stuttering when they first met. "I love you."Her voice was sweet, enchanting when she confessed. "You do?" He replied to her, and his heart was given to the pretty girl, seventh grade.
They had their fingers laced together and lives intertwined for quite a while, until he showed up. It was the first heartbreak. "Hey Riku… Let's not kid ourselves, we aren't working out." She told him at the end of the eighth grade.
Almost a week later, he found the pretty girl pressing the brunet boy against his locker.

The second girl was the hyperactive girl that always wore a bright, bumblebee yellow dress. "Cinderella, dressed in yellow, went up stairs to kiss a fellow!" He was a freshman that year.
She was also a freshman, skipping around the courtyard with her friends. She was a child at heart, Riku noticed. "My name is Riku, how about you?" The attempt to start a conversation worked well, the hyper girl smiled and introduced herself.
They were never truly together, but it was heartache nevertheless. Riku went to every one of her games (who knew double-dutch was a sport?), cheering for her in the sidelines. She would return the favor by going to his blitzball games.
And that was when everything went wrong. She met a sandy haired boy whom she called 'Her Prince' and forgot about Riku.
It was just a little crush, but it did hurt.

"Riku, what are you looking at?" He was a junior that year, staring at the brunette girl whom he had been friends with ever since he had his breakup with the redhead girl.
Staring into her green eyes, he lost himself. "Nothing, just wondering." Curious, she leaned forward, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.
"You have really pretty eyes, do you know that?" She whispered after a while of staring at each other. That signaled something, and the little seed of hope planted inside his heart started to grow.
Until she announced that she and her best friend, the boy with cerulean eyes, were dating.

Her eyes were what made him stare. They didn't always stay one color everyday. He remembered light, Alice blue when she was amused, a tinge of green blue when she would be drawing, and storm gray when she was sad.
"What is your eye color?" Riku dared to ask one day, looking up into her eyes. "I don't know, what do you think?" She replied with a smile, eyes twinkling.
"Blue, the color of summer skies and roaring oceans, green, the color of secret oracle pools and Caribbean seas, and gray like cloudy spring days and a dove's feather." She laughed, music to his ears.
Pouting, she asked in horror, "Who are you and what have you done with Riku? Riku's not normally this poetic!" Stretching her limbs, the girl plopped her head on his stomach.
The rough fabric brushed against their skin as they both shifted around a bit until her head was against his, silver meeting gold. "What is love?" he loved their pillow talk, it was always so amusing.
"You and me."
