SHENHUA: "From a distant land in the East, from across the sea, he shall appear. He does not know of the strength hidden within him. The strength that would destroy him. The strength that would fulfill his wishes. When he is ready, he shall seek me out. I shall wait... This encounter has been my destiny since ancient times. A Dragon shall emerge from the earth, and dark clouds shall obscure the heavens. A Phoenix shall descend from above, its wings will create a purple wind. In the midst of the pitch-black night, a morning star shall glisten, alone..."

RYO: "What is that poem?"

SHENHUA: "It has been told in the village from long ago."

The two stared at the giant mirrors on the cavern's wall. Light from the torches glistened off of the surface of both mirrors and created a sparkle in the eyes of Ryo and Shenhua.

RYO: "The one who holds the Phoenix..."

Ryo began to turn his head toward Shenhua while she began to turn her head toward Ryo. Direct eye contact was made between the two as they gazed deeply into each other's eyes amidst the dimmed cavern.

(END SHENMUE II)

RYO: "Could that be me?"

Ryo spoke the words confusedly while staring now blankly at the ground.

RYO: "Shenhua, I have to find out more about that poem. Take me to Bailu Village."

SHENHUA: "I suppose we should go there while the day is still young. Maybe I can find out more about Father."

Ryo and Shenhua made their way back to Shenhua's residence. Ryo grabbed his green bag and followed Shenhua through the front door. While walking toward the main path, both glanced at the Shenmue tree. Ryo regained that awkward feeling he first had when he set eyes on the tree the previous day. Now on the path leading to Bailu Village, Ryo attempted to find out more about what Shenhua's father did in the Stone Pit.

RYO: "Shenhua..."

SHENHUA: "Yes?"

RYO: "About your father: What exactly did he do in the Stone Pit?"

SHENHUA: "All I know is that he worked with various kinds of stone in there; he never really let me see exactly what he did in there."

RYO: "I see..."

Both walked for minute until Ryo decided to ask another question.

RYO: "Shenhua..."

SHENHUA: "Yes?"

RYO: "How much longer until Bailu Village?"

SHENHUA: "Bailu Village is at the bottom of this hill."

When reaching the bottom of the hill, Ryo noticed a statue of a white deer.

RYO: "This statue, it is of a white deer."

SHENHUA: "Yes. The white deer is the protector of Bailu Village."

RYO: "Does this mean we are entering Bailu Village?"

SHENHUA: "Bailu Village is at the end of this path. Follow me."

With those spoken words of Shenhua, the two walked the short dirt path and came to the entrance of Bailu Village.
