Edward laughed at Bella as she sat back in the front seat of his Volvo with her arms crossed. She was pouting because of her lack of vision. He'd just missed hitting a deer because of his quicker than quick reflexes and his better than perfect vision.

"I didn't even see that deer coming." Bella said, annoyed. "You know, if you would just change me already I wouldn't whine so much."

Edward sighed. He'd been hoping she wouldn't bring this up again. "Bella, you got a date set, what more do you want from me?"

That was the wrong question to ask. She would say something about wanting to be changed sooner and it would eventually turn into an argument. He always seemed to say the wrong things around her. This whole not being able to read her mind thing was getting more unbearable each day. He was almost tempted to change her right away just to see if he would be able to read her mind if she was a vampire.

Bella looked up thoughtfully. "Well, actually, now that you mention it…" She looked over and smiled. "Some fast food would be nice." As though on cue, her stomach growled.

Edward smiled, "All right, Portland okay?" There was really no fast food places in Forks.
He was just glad she hadn't brought up what he'd been afraid she would. Curse whatever it was that kept him from hearing her thoughts!

"Sounds good to me," She said, straightening up in her seat. "I just don't understand how your vision can be so much better than mine. I have 20/20 vision."

Edward smirked and turned on the headlights even though it was still light outside.

"Better?" He asked jokingly. "Wait," He turned on the brights. "There you go."

Bella smacked him in the shoulder playfully, though he could tell she regretted it right away when she started rubbing her fist with her other hand. She kept forgetting he was not as… soft as she was.

They pulled into the drive thru line some time later. Edward was listening to what was going on in the car ahead of them. The husband and wife seemed strangely agitated. It was all very entertaining. He began to relate the goings on to Bella who started laughing. A moment later the man rolled down his window and stuck his head out, yelling, "Hey, whatcha tryin' to do? Blind me?"

Edward turned the brights off and looked over at Bella. She looked back at him and leaned over to hug him.

"I love you." She said quietly.

"I love you too." Edward replied quietly. "Forever."
