Thief's Pledge:
"I am a thief. I will uphold, honor and respect the thief's code, even under pain of torture and death. I lead the life of a thief, and will behave as such. I will put the Guild before all else, including myself. I leave my old life behind to die, in order to be born once again, renewed and whole. The Guild is the guiding hand that distorts truth and law, blurs reason and logic and manipulates time and space. The Guilds word is law, its judgment final, its wisdom unerring to disobey is death, to others as well as myself. I exist not to benefit myself, but The Guild. Ownership is relative and what I hold in my hand is certain. There is no end other then what is to be. Above all else, do what is supposed to be done."
I was eight years old when I first spoke those words, younger then pretty much any thief that has been accepted into the Guild. That was over twelve years ago. I hardly remember my life before the Guild, perhaps because I didn't have a life before the Guild, at least not a real one anyway. Today, I know the truth. The truth about what we are and why we're here. And possibly how it will all end. But I hope I'm wrong. God, do I hope I'm wrong. But I digress. I should start at the beginning.
My name is Nicholas Delatorian and I am a thief.
