This is my first fanfic and I'm starting with an acrostic poem of "The
Giver." All thanks to Lois Lowry who actually wrote the novel.
I also give thanks to my grade 7 teacher I had last year, Mr. W, who gave me this assignment to do. I wish you guys who are reading this right now like to read acrostic poems because I certainly love to, since it is short and refreshing.
Some people might read this and think this poem wasn't very exciting but please do not expect all the lines to rhyme and to make sense. Thankyou.
Now let me start:
A- Asher is Jonas's best friend and he often mistakes words.
B- Bicycles are mandatory for transportation where Jonas lives.
C- Colors are not seen in the community except for Jonas.
D- Dreams of Fiona are stirrings of Jonas.
E- Elders of the community assign all the children jobs.
F- Fiona is the caretaker of the old.
G- Giver is very old and transmits memories to the receiver of memory.
H- Hills are nowhere to be seen in the community.
I- Intelligence is needed to be the receiver of memory.
J- Jonas is the new receiver of memory.
K- Killing babies by syringes are kept secret from the community.
L- Lily is Jonas's sister who never puts her ribbon on properly.
M- Memories - some cruel, some painful, and some warm and healing.
N- Nurturers love children and take care of them.
O- Opinions are not made by citizens of the community.
P- Presents with beautiful wrappers are pleasurable memories.
Q- Quickly, Jonas memorized various colors.
R- Receiver of memory receives both pain and pleasure in memories.
S- Sleds are not used in the community since they don't have snow.
T- Teachers are strict on using right words.
U- Unscheduled holidays are delightful in the community.
V- Visitors from other communities come to visit.
W- Weather control doesn't let wild animals survive in their community.
X- X-mas night was the Giver's favorite memory.
Y- Year by year children get different things.
Z- Zippers are on Lily's jacket with lots of pockets.
