Just a short one-shot on Cloves death, I know there are a million of these but whatever. If I get enough reviews, I might add another chapter where Cato kills Thresh. So, review. By the way, I have a forum called Last One Standing SYOT. it is going to be deleted soon, so if you want to submit a tribute before it is gone, do it now and you will see the story in the near future.

"Cato!" my head snapped up when I heard her calling my name. I instantly knew something was wrong.

Dropping my spear, I raced to where Clove was. She was supposed to just get the supplies and go, maybe kill the girl from twelve if she had the chance. Against Clove, Twelve wouldn't stand a chance, there was no way that pathetic fire girl could hurt Clove.

"Cato!" I heard Clove scream again as I burst into the clearing. The boy from district eleven, Thresh I think, was holding Clove up as she kicked and squirmed to get away. With one swift movement, a rock collided with Cloves head, leaving a sickening dent.

"Clove!" I screamed and raced toward her. She couldn't be dead. She just couldn't! We grew up together, we volenteered as tributes together. And now she was gone?

Thresh took off running as I neared. Katniss ran away a few seconds later in the opposite direction.

I collapsed on the ground next to Cloves body. She looked up at me with her big brown eyes and offered a weak smile.

"I'm so sorry. I am so sorry." I cried, tears were falling down my face. I'm not sure if I've ever cried before, then again, I've never lost someone like Clove before. "Please don't go. I need you."

Clove didn't say anything but her hand wrapped around mine and she squeezed weakly. It was all it took for more tears to erupt from my eyes.

"You'll be okay, I promise you." I whispered and she shook her head. A single tear fell from her eye and she squeezed my hand once more, this time, much weaker.

"I'll win. I'll win for you." I said and she still didn't say anything. I waited for a few seconds until she finally shook her head.

"What? B-but, I trained. I can win this." I stuttered. We had always talked about winning the hunger games, and now she was telling me I couldn't?

"This isn't our game... The gamemakers alreafy chose their...victor." she whispered. I tried to tell her that I would avenge her, that no matter what, I would come out stronger in the end. For her, but she just kept on shaking her head. Telling me twelve needed a victor this year.

Finally, her eyes glossed over and her hand slipped from mine. Those beautiful eyes would never shine again. Her hands that could work so skillfully with a knife. Clove would never be around to joke about killing lover boy and fire girl. Sickening jokes, but they always managed to bring my mood up.

"I will avenge you." I whispered after the cannon shot. I kissed her forehead before I stood and grabbed the knife from my belt.

I knelt back down and plunged the knife deep into the ground, carving Cloves name in the dirt. The arena would only last until the end of this years games but if Thresh ever came upon it, he would know the pain he caused me.

Thresh. The name made my blood boil with rage as I stalked back to where I had dropped my spear. I would kill him. I would make sure he payed for killing Clove. She was my best friend and I may have even loved her. I don't know, feelings didn't come naturally to me.

And now, she was dead and I would be sure I would get my revenge. On Thrush for killing her, and on Katniss for being there.

They would all pay.
