Well, this is my first story, so I apologize for short chapters and such. I'll gladly accept criticism, but flames are not appreciated. By the way, I have no idea how to "correctly" write one of these chapter prequel things.
Intended pairings are VerxErin, JayxCrystal, and (still haven't decided on a name)xIvory.
Disclaimer: Legend of Zelda copyright Nintendo, and I'm stealing Shadow's dialect from various other fics.
And the Four Sword was in its place once more.
Or it would be, if there were only one again.
"Link! What happened?" cried the blonde girl. All five (well, six, but no one was aware of the sixth) of the people in the Sanctuary were confused.
The boy dressed in purple, or perhaps violet seemed to be the least confused.
"I'd say," he began, "that due to our now separately developed memories, causing personalities to also appear, we can no longer become one, or three of us would die."
The blue clothed boy glared at him.
"So you're saying that we're gonna be like this forever?" he demanded. The earlier sad boy in the red tunic gradually became happier.
"Yay! Blue, we all can stay together!" he squealed. Blue glared at him.
"Red's got a point," said the one wearing green. "At least this way, you can be with Erune. Because I," he said, looking at the only girl in the room, "already have someone to be with."
The girl blushed, but had a worried look.
"Green, there's only one problem-" she and the boy in violet said at the same time.
"I'm sorry, princess. Please finish," apologized the violet wearing hero.
"Please Vio, we've been friends for as long as anyone can remember: call me Zelda," she reprimanded.
"Regardless, that sword only contains one quarter of the original seal. I need the four of you to guard the seal until I come up with another idea." Vio spoke up.
"Pri- Zelda, if we were to keep the jewels of our swords, could that work?" Zelda pondered the idea.
"That would work, but we'd need the fifth gem..." A saddened look crossed the faces of all, save Vio.
"Zelda, the fifth gem is right here," he said. "Are you finished hiding, Shadow?" As he said this, his shadow deformed, and a fifth boy, dressed in black with purple hair, popped out.
"Aww," he complained as shock flashed in the eyes of the others. "You never let me have any fun! I was gonna scare Blue." Blue glared at him, but Red hugged him.
"Shadow!" shouted the crying boy, "I thought you were gone forever!" Shadow grinned.
"Obviously you didn't know that as long as there's a big enough part left of the Dark Mirror, I'm fine!" This time, even Vio looked surprised.
"Oh, come on! You guys didn't realize that you all kept a piece!" he laughed, grinning. "Well, at least your seal idea can work now, Vio. Ya want my piece, err, Princess?" Zelda looked surprised.
"Shadow, that's your piece. And you can also call my princess! You nearly died for me, that itself should make us friends! But you all need to keep those gems in your family lines, because if Gufuu ever reappears, your descendants will also house the powers of the four sword, with your spirits housed in these jewels."
Since then, the heroes have passed away, but they live on inside their heirlooms. They, however, are not the only ones, and though this story is over, a greater, more modernized story is yet to come.
"Good night, children, and maybe you'll be able to see this next story, as it is yet to happen," said the old storyteller, as he retired to his bedroom. He'd told this story for many years at libraries and bookstores, and kids loved it. Sadly, no one but himself knew it was true. He was the last in a line of people telling this story, and hoped it's time had finally come. He looked outside to see five lights in the sky momentarily, and smiled.
"It's finally their time," he rasped, and died.
Isn't that such a lovely ending for chapter 1? Seriously, I fail XD
