Valon looked into Mai's eyes with a soft but fiery passion.
Although he had lost to Joey Wheeler several months before the Armor duelist still loved Mai.
He just hoped she loved him back.
"Valon.." Mai began, gently.
"Yes, Mai?" He asked his Cockney accent showing.
"Well.. Although you lost to Joey, well I could tell how brave you were in that duel with him."
Valon blushed slightly. "Thanks, Mai." He replied sheepishly.
Mai smiled. She knew she wanted to be his Valentine, she just wasn't sure how to ask.
"Mai?" Valon asked, breaking a momentary silence.
"Yes?" She asked.
"Why did you really join the Orichalcos?" Valon asked gently.
"Because of something that happened during Battle City." She replied.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked.
"Well I guess since I trust you, sure." She replied.
Valon smiled softly as a flashback began.
"With every monster destroyed, goes your memory of a friend!" Yami Marik cackled insanely.
Mai looked afraid but concealed it.
After Mai officially loses the duel
"The Shadow Realm?" Mai asked, dazed.
"I know your memory is failing you, but we had an agreement so!" Yami Marik shouted as his Millennium Rod activated.
"Look out cuz here comes da Wheelas!" Joey Wheeler shouted as he and his sister Serenity ran into the water from the beach.
"It looks like your friends are having fun and they've forgotten all about you." Yami Marik replied.
"You'll sit day after day in isolation alone for eternity. By the way I'm taking back my card." He cackled taking it before Mai was surrounded in sand as the flashback ended.
Valon looked at her hugging her. "It's alright, Mai. I'll protect you." He replied.
Mai smiled. "Valon will you be my Valentine?" She asked.
Valon chuckled. "It's all I could ever want." He replied kissing her on the lips gently.
Mai kissed him back having finally found the one man she could call her one true love.
