It was a perfect September day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the sky was a clear blue. A light breeze rippled the dark water's of the Black Lake, making the sun dance on the waves. It was neither too hot nor too cold. The nice weather had decided to stay awhile longer, if only for this one weekend.
Sirius Black dove into the lake, splashing around with glee. The water was extremely refreshing after the first week of 6th year. The start of school was always stressful. He let out a bark-like laugh as James Potter and Remus Lupin jumped into the water after him, shouting and laughing. Shielding his eyes against the spray of the water, he glanced back at the bank. Peter Pettigrew and Riley Grant still stood there, giggling as they watched.
"Oi you two! Are you coming?" he called. Peter hesitated before jumping in, creating the biggest splash yet. James and Remus attacked him with water as soon as he resurfaced. Riley laughed and sat back on the grass, propping herself up on her elbows.
"I'm working on my tan!" she shouted back at Sirius.
Sirius laughed, wading closer to the bank. The willow tree looming over the lake triggered a very fond memory. Here was the place where the Marauder's had first met Riley in first year…..
It was the second day of term. The Marauder's had been walking around out side after classes, looking to wreak havoc upon some unsuspecting Slytherin, namely, Snivellus. Unfortunately it seemed he had locked himself up in the Slytherin common room for the rest of the day.
Walking along the banks of the Black Lake, they noticed a fellow Gryffindor sitting under the branches of the willow. Remus had met her briefly before the Sorting, and they had seen her in the Common Room. Her name was Riley Grant.
The boys walked over to her and introduced themselves, asking her after if she wanted to hang out with them. Riley agreed, and ever since that day, they had been best friends...
"Sirius? SIRIUS!"
"Hmm? What?" the handsome black haired teenager snapped out of his day dream to find Riley standing at the edge of the water, arms crossed over her pink and white bikini top. Her breast length brown hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail, leaving her sliced bangs to cover half of one deep brown eye.
Riley was neither skinny, nor was she heavy. She had a healthy, athletic build.
"Were you day dreaming again?"
"Maybe…." Sirius had a habit of randomly going into a dreamlike state at the least opportune moments, "Are you coming in?"
A smile played at Riley's lips, "That depends. Are you gonna make me?"
Sirius's lips spread into a mischievous grin. He stalked slowly closer, "Yes."
Suddenly, he lunged; wrapping his arms around Riley's leg's and threw her over his shoulder. Her carried the laughing girl over to James, Remus, and Peter, dropping her into the water before them. Riley hit the water, a huge splash following her. She resurfaced, spluttering and giggling.
"Finally decided to join us, Miss Grant?" James, joked, tussling her soaked hair.
Riley glared at James mockingly, rising to her knees and knocking him into the water.
Remus, Sirius, and Peter laughed as James sat in the lake, shocked.
"Yes, and I'm glad I did," Riley replied kicking more water at James.
James rose, "You're going to regret that, Miss Grant," Awkwardly, he began to chase Riley, who spun around and jumped just out of his reach. The water was soon up to their waists as they traveled into deeper waters. The five friends splashed and played in the water, oblivious to the danger that lurked beneath the waves, waiting for the opportune moment to strike….
