I woke up on a couch, not surprising because that's where I had fallen asleep.
"Dar, there's a lump on the couch." A familiar voice said.
"Now don't call it a lump, well I suppose it could be a lump." Another voice said
"Is the lump staying for breakfast?"
"Dunno, ask it." I was then prodded in the ribs.
"Fuck I'm up!" I answered, still lying under the blanket.
"I'd recognize that swearing anywhere."
"You would, would you?"
"How goes it kiddo?"
"I'm the same age as you Dar-Bear." I said swinging my legs off of the couch.
"Don't call me Dar-Bear." Darry said sitting where my legs had been moments before.
"Fine Darry-Diddle-Dimpykins,"
"Don't call me that either."
"Fine, Darryl Shaynne Curtis." I said drawing out his full name
"Darry's just fine."
"Fine, where Two-bit at anyways?"
"Home probably."
"When'll he show up here d'you know?"
"Nah, want some breakfast?"
"Sure, cake?" I asked raising my eyebrows.
"Is there anything better?"
"Omelets, lasagna, self satisfaction…."
"Never mind."
"Cake me."
"So, what brings you back here anyways?"
"I got kicked out of New York 'cos I beat a bunch of Socys in a pink slip race for a 'stang. Decided to come make what I can of a fortune in Tulsa, and I decided that I should visit with my brother."
"So who is this anyways?" A guy who was wearing about half of what he should be wearing asked Darry.
"This is Colby Mathews, Two-bit's older sister."
"Two-bit has an older sister?"
"Yeah, I ran away when I was thirteen which means he would have been ten or eleven."
"That why I don't remember you."
"Precisely"
"Well we've both got to get off to work now, I'd really love to see a family reunion happen right in my living room but time is money." Darry said throwing a shirt at the halfway clad teenager, "By the way Pony's still asleep so don't make too much noise or completely freak him out".
"Jeez, Pony's how old now? Thirteen?"
"Fourteen , actually." Darry said as he went out the door.
