Complete Opposites

Author's Notes:
I'm not dead... yet. I wrote this for a couple of friends obsessed with the pairing. Hope you like it...?
Riku and Axel were complete opposites.
Axel was calm, calculating. Rarely did he ever rush into situations, if he could help it, fearing that the outcome might grow beyond his control.
Headstrong Riku often times threw caution to the winds, leaping into the fray even with impossible odds. Even if it meant getting hurt.
And Axel – reliable, strong Axel – made sure to be there when things fell apart to pick up the pieces and kiss the hurt away.
Riku loved the water. The feeling of the slick drops sliding down his lithe, tanned body, long, silvery hair dripping in his face – it was a sensual euphoria. The sound of a rushing stream soothed his mind, and he loved the relief as his worries washed away with the chilly liquid from his long-past beloved winter snows, eventually becoming one with the ocean. "The bigger picture," as he put it.
Pyro-maniac Axel adored fire. Its ability to be flashy yet serene, all at once astounded him. The heat comforted his mind, and whenever he needed space, time to think, one could often times find his lean body slumped over, staring blankly into the smoldering flames with his spiky red-hair pulled back to avoid the sparks leaping and dancing like a ballet, smoky curtains twirling in plumes through the air. The warmth engulfed him, the temperature reassuring his heart (for evidently, he also loved the summer) in his loneliness. Life took its toll on even the strongest fighters…
And when Axel got too far away, Riku would pull him back, anchoring him back to their simple reality before he lost himself to the tide of dreams.
Axel enjoyed reading. Letting the words take him on a journey of magic and wonder, suspense and pleasure building with each turn of the page.
Riku's passion was drawing. Loosing his consciousness within the lines, each stroke of his pencil made with care as they formed together to create a wonderful masterpiece.
But they always found time to set aside the newest paperback by a favorite author, or the favorite set of charcoal pencils simply begging to be used in order to just sit, comfortingly, within the other's presence, words seldom spoken other than quiet murmurs of things only they would ever know.
Riku fancied rock music, surrendering to the angst filled words and upbeat notes of the guitar, emulating the way they threaded together something from nothing – abstract words into breathtaking songs.
Classical music attracted Axel's tastes, the powerful, bass drums beating in rhythm to the delicate, soprano flutes. The violin's high-pitched and low-pitched ranges thundering along with the cymbals and clarinets. "Pure beauty," he thought, his mind at rest, and his pulse beating steadily in tune.
And yet, both could compromise; alternating and enduring, if only for the other's sake, pouts often kissed away and crossed arms pulled apart until the music is all but forgotten.
Axel liked red.
Riku liked green.
Axel liked horror.
Riku liked romance.
Axel liked it quiet.
Riku liked it loud.
Complete, polar opposites. As different as Yin and Yang, or the opposite ends of a magnet. Yet working together, as a pair. Overcoming and solving. Connected.
The hidden differences, though only clear to each other, didn't matter.
After all, opposites attract.
Reviews please? Kinda self-concious with this writing style. D:
