Disenchantment

Anita was angry. She had felt used, betrayed, worthless. And above all, she felt infuriated, in herself, for once again falling for another fictitious scumbag.
First it was her husband who had had an affair behind her back. And now the man who she thought was the new found love of her life was having it off with another woman.
You just can't win in this city.
She stood there sullen, glaring coldly at the smartly-dressed attorney approaching her direction, who made his way down the corridor to his office.
"Lieutenant," Mike greeted with discretion, a little startled by her presence.
His sharp cologne lingered a spicy aura around him.
She clenched her fists and blinked irately, as her blood began to boil. "Is that all I am to you, Mr Cutter? A cheap quickie in your office while nobody's looking?"
