It was scary, knowing that she could be in danger. Jackie tried not to think about it. But it always came back to her, that thought. It came without warning. In the middle of the day while she sits having a cup of tea, or at night while she was reading in bed. A feeling that Rose wasn't safe out there.
She knew that the Doctor was taking care of her. She had been wary of him at first, especially after she found out about his regeneration. But Jackie really trusted him. She tried to make it seem like she didn't, and she loved scaring him with a good old fashioned Jackie Tyler slap to the face. But when it came down the the safety of Rose, she trusted him with her daughter's life, and deep down, he probably knew that too.
Jackie was scared. She had Mickey, and that was it. No husband to help her. Sometimes she found herself crying. One moment she was going to go to the cafe for a coffee, the next she was sitting by the door, shaking with sobs. It scared her at how fast she could break down.
But Rose was 20. She could handle herself. She was a grownup, and she didn't need her mum's supervision. But did Jackie need her daughter?
Rose always came back for her. Every Saturday, she'd pop in with the Doctor, with a new present and some good food. They would chat for hours, and have cups of tea. On a lucky Saturday, Rose could pull the Doctor onto the couch and get him to be domestic long enough to watch a movie with Jackie. Then, at nighttime, they'd say goodbye, and then, hand-in-hand, they would pop back into the Tardis and fly away.
Jackie knew there was something going on between them. Rose kept insisting that they were only friends, but she knew better. Rose's eyes twinkled when she looked at him, and he smiled at her like she was his favorite person in the universe.
Jackie missed her. And although she wouldn't admit it, she missed him too. For 6 days, she would miss them. And sometimes she would cry. But every Saturday, Rose kept her promise.
And Jackie would keep holding on.
