One-shot of Jason and Reyna. Not romantic, more showing their friendship.
It was a nice windy day. Cool, yet comforting. The two praetors of Camp Jupiter were roaming New Rome. Both of them stood in their proper apparel as praetor, and they were inspecting New Rome. They had to do this from time to time; they would ask around to make sure everything was running smoothly in the area. Anything discomforting to the people who reside there, and it would be handled.
Jason and Reyna were walking together, back to the Camp and out of New Rome. The walk would take around ten minutes. Usually they would get right to talking about how things were running in the town, but they were both tired due to one certain hooligan and a cabbage man. To shorten it down, the hooligan stole cabbages and made a scene, while the owner kept yelling, "My cabbages!" as he ran after the boy. Jason and Reyna helped. The boy was doing it only to mess with the man, and he didn't even need the food.
Jason spoke up, "That was crazy, huh?"
Reyna laughed. "Yeah, it took awhile to catch that boy."
They sighed.
"Octavian has been coming to me with weird prophecies. Do you think it means anything?" Reyna worried.
"What are they about?" Jason asked.
"Something about a camp, and leaders. He says it's confusing now, but will make sense later." Reyna replied.
"Wait, does we already know what it means? He should tell us!" Jason demanded.
"No, I don't think he knows himself, actually." Reyna said.
"You think it's about us?" Jason asked.
Reyna sighed. "I don't know." She asked, frustrated with her own answer.
" Well you know that Octavian… he's a weird one." Jason mused.
They both laughed.
There was a cozy silence until a challenge was proposed.
"Race you back?" Jason said excitedly.
Reyna smirked. "You think you could beat me?"
Jason smiled and they ran off.
Jason had the head start, but being only about 6 inches away from Reyna. She acknowledged this but kept her pace. Soon, Jason slowed down, because he started fast, and Reyna was catching up. Reyna had a big smile as she passed Jason and was nearing the end of the town. As Jason saw this, he panicked, and leaped off the street and flyed. He flyed in just enough time to beat Reyna to the exit of New Rome.
Reyna let out a frustrated breath. "You cheated!"
"Did not." Jason replied, calmly.
"Did too! You flyed!" She shot back.
"There were no rules!" He countered.
She stomped her foot in frustration. "That's not fair." She muttered.
Jason laughed out and put his arm around Reyna as they started walking back to their own cohorts. Reyna crossed her arms and looked up at Jason. He looked back at her.
"Got something to say, Ramirez-Arellano?" Jason said.
"You suck." She said.
"That's the best you can do?" Jason asked.
She turned back ahead and started walking. Jason caught up and laid his arm back on Reyna's shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm a cheater. Whatever." Jason gave in.
Reyna knew her facade would work and instantly perked up.
"Well! Now that you have admitted it! I think this calls for celebration." Reyna said.
Jason looked at her fiercely as she took grass off the ground and threw them up like confetti.
"Woo hoo! Jason, number one!" Reyna announced.
Jason looked up and wiped the grass off his hair and grimaced.
"Gee, thanks Reyna. I feel honored." He said.
She gave back a big smile and they waved while saying bye, as they both started going back to their cohort to get a night's rest.
