A disturbed groan pulled Garrett from an already restless sleep. His heavy lids flew open as the elf next to him tossed and turned, one wild arm hitting him in the chest. The air puffed through his lips with a grunt, and he sat up to remove himself from striking range.
"Fenris," Garrett said gently, squeezing the elf's thigh softly to rouse him from his troubled sleep. When all he did was flinch, Garrett let out a sigh and took Fenris by the wrist before wriggling back on the bed, narrowly avoiding the other hand that lashed out toward him.
Moving his hands to Fenris's shoulders, he pulled him gently onto his lap, arms wrapping around him to still his lover's. The elf's legs continued to thrash about frantically, the bed sheets cast aside by the movement. Garrett, able to wrap one arm around Fenris to hold his arms, attempted to stop his legs with the other.
Long moments of whispered comfort and soothing reassurances passed before the elf's movements began to slow, longer still until they stopped completely. Sweat coated both their bodies in a sheen that captured the moonlight in a luminescent glow, Fenris's lyrium markings more distinct than usual against his tan skin. He pulled his legs up, almost as if trying to curl into a ball, but Garrett stopped him with a massaging hand on his naked thigh.
He wasn't entirely sure how long he sat there, brushing the silver-white hair from his lover's brow or dabbing away the sweat with a stray bed sheet. Garrett certainly didn't mind these moments. He could only be grateful that Fenris finally allowed him to give comfort when he could. If Garrett lost a few hours of sleep doing so, it was more than worth it. The bashful look of thanks in the morning followed by the usual stoic expression when Fenris gathered himself made it so.
As the moonlight was steadily replaced by sunlight, Garrett lifted Fenris from his lap, laying him on the bed before settling in behind him. He placed a soft, lingering kiss on one pointed ear, and, before settling in to sleep himself, whispered, "Sleep well, Fenris."
This is my first attempt at m/m. It's a gift for my friend Kim, who I met over at deviantART. This is her Garrett Hawke and Fenris, based on one of her drawings. I'm actually rather proud of this, considering it's outside my comfort zone. I hope you guys enjoyed!
