Sorry this took longer than expected. My internet signal is still not really fixed and is on and off at the moment. Anyway, this is the third part to my 'Slingshot' based series. The first part is 'Far Away' and the second is 'Make it look Easy'. I hope you've enjoyed them and I hope you like this one.
It was easy to underestimate the abilities and skills of the youngest Tracy.
He was young. He was young and he made mistakes, and it was difficult to know if he learnt from them, or whether it was simply his desperation to go on missions that made him push them aside.
"It's me, I can handle it."
Maybe he over-estimated.
Maybe it was a Tracy fault. Maybe it came with a desperation to be able to save lives, after losing two of those which mattered most.
Yet, it was easy to underestimate themselves, and then to push that at Alan, in order to shed their own insecurities away and hide them. It might he why Alan did the same: he underestimated himself.
"'Alan Tracy crazy' or 'should I be worried Crazy'?"
"I'll let you be the judge of that."
Doubt slipped to mind when you thought of it. When you thought of a brother all alone that you couldn't reach or help, rather sit and wait with a stream of thoughts endeavouring to break through your skull.
A stream of thoughts saying he can't do it, that you should never have sent him out, that he won't came back.
If he underestimated himself, why wouldn't they? If they underestimated him, why would he not pick up on that? Why would he not doubt himself? Or why would he not take it on as a challenge and focus on proving them wrong?
"You shouldn't underestimate Alan just because he's the youngest. That kid's a lot more clever than we think."
He was and they underestimated him too much. He was a Tracy.
He was their brother.
There you go, this series is done! I hope to have more stories to come in the next few days as well as the next chapter of Waiting out the Storm. Thank you so much to everyone who has read this as well as the other parts of the series, all your support means a lot to me.
P.S. The trailer for the upcoming episodes looks great – more Thunderbird Five time too as well as Gordon and Scott. Who else is looking forward to it?
