I am able to update because I am at the library. Please R&R for the new story and enjoy.
My legs were already stiff from sitting on the park bench. My mind was almost broken from reading the boring plaque beneath the wooden statue a dozen times already. The sandwich in my hand was stale, but I ate it anyway.
I kept looking around for anyone. Even a park ranger who would kick me of the bench and tell me to leave. I needed something other than the chilly wind and almost perfect silence laying like a blanket over me.
A rustling in the trees behind the statue distracted me. Then a boy approached out of the woods. I jumped up. From my pocket I started moving the two balls between my fingers. The teenager squinted. "Hey." He said.
"Uh, hey." I reply. I realize he's looking me over, taking in my appearance. I do the same. He has short blonde hair and is notably taller than me. He's wearing blue jeans. "Are you waiting for me?" He asks.
His voice is deep compared to mine. I'm embarrassed when I reply, my voice like a twelve-year-olds. "I don't know. Let me see your leg." He appears to hesitate then pulls up his jeans. Three rough scars are sculpted into his flesh. I show him mine.
I put my balls back into my pocket and walk towards him. "I'm Five." He nods at me. "Four, but call me John."
"A human name," I say wistfully. "I've had too many of those to even remember." We shake. His hand is tight. For a moment, I'm worried he won't let go, but then he coughs and pulls his hand away.
"Sorry, I'm excited." I say, turning red. He appears to consider this, then shrugs. "You shouldn't have put that message up. Two did the same thing and died." I'm mad that he appears disappointed in me. "Well, you found me, didn't you?" I snap back.
"You still shouldn't have done it. Let's go." I scan the area. I hoped more would have come. "Nobody else is here?" I ask.
Two girls appear from thin air right next to me. I stumble backwards, almost falling. "A warning?" I say loudly. One of them stares at me. She has olive skin. "I'm Six. John is too nice to tell you could've been killed from what you did. You're lucky we got here first."
Four interrupts me when I open my mouth to respond. We have to get back to the others. Let's go." I ask the other girl what number she is. "I'm just Sarah." She responded, smiling. "A human ally. Wow," I breath.
Six snaps at me. "We need to go. They could get here any min-"
A rumbling overcomes my ears. I turn and see a silver ship turns it's headlights on us. "Is that your ship?" I ask, astounded. "Mogadorians!" Four shouts. I see waves of bodies falling from the ship to the ground.
"Oh." I say, blinking. "So that's what they look like."
