Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover
My mother, when I was growing up, always taught me valuble lessons and rules to learn and go by. The rules especially came in handy when I was a unruly child growing up in Montana, always getting into trouble. But that's another story. But the one lesson I had remembered from my mother was that "You don't judge a book by it's cover" and at the time I couldn't understand what it meant or why she even said it.
I never paid any attention to that lesson until I started working as a CSI.in NY. I remember I was nervous as Hell because I had to work my first case in a new city with a new crew. My first case took place at the city zoo. I got along with my new boss, Mac but I just wasn't sure about the other guy named Danny. His intense, steel blue eyes pierced through me like knives and I couldn't put my finger on why he looked at me like that.
I found out that I replaced his partner after she was dismissed and from what I heard around the office he was pretty miffed about that. But that's not my fault! Why is he holding it against me?
Lately, though, I have heard around the water cooler, so to speak, that all the lab girls talk about Danny. Who he's going out with? How long will that last? Who will he pick next? He's the resident Csi stud that way I hear it. Really? This is interesting?
And I had this feeling that he would try to ask me out because I had heard that he asked out his old partner and she said no. I was prepared to face him, and when he asked me, I declined and said no. He looked crushed but he totally played it off.
Maybe it was just chance or purely planned, but Mac started to really start to pair us off in cases. We were walking side by side, in some pretty grueling cases. I got to know him a lot better and I was starting to believe that the lab girls got their facts wrong about Danny.
