SLEEPY-BYE-NAPPY TIME
By milesprower06
A/N- I was never one for poetry, but one night, I just got this one in my head and started working it out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting: Shinjuku Park, Guilmon's Hut. Shortly after the conclusion of Season 3. The partners have recently returned, and Takato is sitting in the stone hut in Shinjuku Park, with Guilmon, who is leaning against him, sleeping. Told from Takato's POV.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I sit, leaning against a stone wall
Thinking of all the times we've had
I recall everything we've shared; I remember it all
All the times good, and the times bad
I remember our fights against Renamon
And Rika, her fiery Tamer
But she soon stepped away from fighting on and on
So I can't really blame her
I remember when you first Digivolved
Growlmon you became
I didn't think it'd ever get resolved
I never thought you'd be the same
I remember our fights against the Devas twelve
And our journey to the Digital World
None of these memories, I ever want shelved
Except maybe when my anger unfurled
Beelzemon became hungry for power
He took the life of one of our own
We stood helpless outside the Sovereign's tower
Jeri thought she'd forever be alone
I wanted Beelzemon to pay for his crime; to suffer so much
I lost my sense of reason; I had completely lost my touch
I'll never forget what happened to you; what my rage had done
I realized my mistake, and then we became one
My Digivice lay in pieces, yet I still wanted to fight
I was standing there next to you, when we both saw the light
No Digivice to connect us; yet we felt the energy surge
At last, we came together – our first Biomerge
I remember returning home, to fight the D-Reaper's war
To fight to save Jeri trapped inside the core
We never gave up; we never gave in
Though victory was not being found
We kept finding the courage within
Even Beelzemon came around
The battle was won, the D-Reaper gone
At last through the darkness, then came the dawn
And even though you had to leave; one of victory's costs
I knew that you'd be back; without you I'm lost
And now here I sit, against a stone wall
With you by my side, sleeping through it all
I remember you called it 'Sleepy-Bye-Nappy Time'
And a nap with you would be just fine
Guilmon boy, you're the very definition of a dream come true
And right here; right now, it's just me and you
