Helen wasn't really mad at Andy, for deep down in her heart, she knew that Andy wasn't the type to just go around and announce to the world that they were getting married, when it wasn't true. That was what really upset her. She should have known that Barney had something to do with it. Helen loved Andy very much, and what upset her was the fact that it wasn't true. They weren't engaged. Yet. When, though? Helen Crump was ready to become Mrs. Andy Taylor, and to be a mother to Opie.
Everyone in town had revealed that out of all of Andy's relationships, Helen was the one everyone liked best. At first, Opie didn't like her because she gave too much homework. Helen didn't give too much homework because she was a mean teacher or anything, she just wanted them to learn about how America got started, and all kinds of different things to do with History. Opie and his friends realized how interesting History actually was, and thanks to Andy, they started doing their homework.
That was when Helen fell for Andy. It was before Barney and Thelma Lou set them up. Sheriff Taylor must have been someone special for everyone to always listen to. She got to know Andy, and soon discovered what a great guy he truly was. He was crazy about his son, and his friends, and treated her with nothing but respect. Yes, there were times Helen got jealous if another woman dared look at Andy, but it was only because she was afraid of losing him.
Helen wanted Andy to propose to her. All he had to do was ask. She would say yes in a heartbeat. Helen wasn't the type to just settle for anybody. The man had to be very special, and respect her and what she wanted to do. Andy had been supportive and told her that when they do get married, he doesn't expect her to quit her job, and stay home cooking and cleaning the house. As he told Barney, it was the twentieth century. Helen was a little worried, though. When exactly would Andy propose? They've been going together two years after all, and spent almost every night together. Barney and Thelma Lou had been together five years, and still, no engagement. Hopefully, Andy wouldn't take as long as Barney to pop the question.
She felt bad for snapping at Andy and insulting him on the street, and apologized for it after she calmed down. Helen just didn't have the courage to tell him that she was more upset by the fact that the rumor wasn't true. That was what upset her the most. She wanted to have a summer wedding with all of their close friends and family in the church. Thelma Lou would be her Maid of Honor. Barney, of course, would be Andy's Best Man. Opie would be the ring bearer.
The wedding would take place on a Sunday, and they would have their reception at the house, where Aunt Bee would cook them a big meal. Helen loved Aunt Bee, and told Andy she could live with them as long as she wanted. They would be family, after all.
Hopefully, it would all happen someday soon.
THE END
