Tsukiyomi Ikuto
Fortress
Fortress built from scraps of memories
He leaned back, reflecting on his life now, being pursued by Easter; comparing it to his relatively carefree past, which seemed to have been so long ago. He had a family, then. A family which didn't consist of an obsessive sister whom he barely ever saw, and a brother who still hated and blamed him for taking everything apart.
Protecting what little I have left
Ever since he'd been called a "black cat", bringing bad luck to anyone whom his path crossed; his life had been slipping inexorably downwards. Now he was in the control of Easter. His father had tried to save him from them, but he had failed. Easter's reach was far. They were inescapable. He could escape them in his mind, only.
From those intruding minds that seek
Why was it that people always wanted to know more? More about his family, the father whose cursed name had forced him into this contract - this life sentence - with Easter.
Knowledge, though I abhor their theft.
He, himself, only wanted to forget it all; to pretend that it had never gone wrong, or sometimes to pretend he didn't remember better times. Nobody should take that beautiful self-deception from him.
It has stood through blazing fury
And now he looked at Amu's angry face, accusing him of hiding something. He wanted to tell her that she wasn't the only one being kept ignorant of his story. He deceived himself, too.
It has endured temper's spears
He put on a light smirk as she waved her fists at him. There was no "truth" that he could offer to tell. He didn't believe in truth. Truth was only for the self-righteous, the ones who needed to feel important and tried to enforce their view of reality - their truth - on everyone. He was reluctant to describe Amu that way, though.
It has lasted through ice-sharp taunting
Now she was calling him names. Liar. Thieving cat. That didn't matter. Why should he care about what she thought, how she felt? But then again…
It now dissolves in the rain of tears.
She finally burst into tears. Involuntarily, he reached out a hand to touch her shoulder in a gesture of comfort. Perhaps she was right. Perhaps facing his reality was a better idea, and one day, he could be free again. Perhaps he would be free with her.
Bit of Amuto in there. ^_^ Tried a different style, this time. Review?
