"Venhedis. Stop moving!"

The growl of the elf's voice was unmistakable, yet Carver continued to pull away from him. His glare matched that of Fenris, their eyes level as they stared each other down.

"I'm fine," Carver insisted. Hissing at a new stab of pain, he jerked and twisted away from Fenris.

"Don't be foolish, you'll bleed out."

"Let's just wait for A…" Carver caught himself, swallowing and trying again. "For Anders to heal it."

Fenris snorted, growling as one gauntleted hand wrapped unmercilessly around Carver's forearm. He yelped, trying again to wrench himself free. This time, to no avail as Fenris held steady.

"It would be pointless. I have a poultice and some bandages in my pack."

Finally Carver gave up, slouching over and covering his face with his still free hand. He sighed against his palm, shaking his head slowly from side to side. His skin tingled from the contact with Fenris. The lyrium-etched skin leaving an odd sensation behind. Carver swallowed thickly, dropping his hand and looking aside from Fenris.

"There." Fenris stood after putting the remainder of the bandages back in his pack and slung it over his shoulder. "Let us go find your sister before night falls. She can't have gotten far."

Absently Carver bobbed his head, hoisting himself up and looking down at his bandaged arm. His cheeks puffed outward as he huffed out a strong sigh, nostrils flaring. Just fantastic. He'd never hear the end of it. Not from Ashley and certainly not from their mother.

He tipped his gaze back upward, watching Fenris retreat against the horizon. Staring at the elf's graceful movements, even amidst the ever shifting sands of the coast.

"Are you going to stare at him all afternoon or follow him?"

The sickeningly sweet voice of his sister caused Carver to freeze, his eyes snapping open wide.

"I, uh… I wasn't…" Carver swallowed the lump forming in his throat.

"Don't worry," she dropped a heavy hand on his shoulder. "I won't tell anyone."

It was a good long moment before Carver composed himself enough to call out to Fenris. To point out they'd taken so long, his sister had found them. Typical.
