My thoughts on what Serena was thinking on her trip to Hoenn

"Attention flyers, we will be landing in Mauville City very shortly. Please make your way back to your seats and fasten your seat belts."
Serena leaned forward in her seat and opened her window slightly. She looked out at the beautiful landscape that was the Hoenn Region with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. It was early evening and the sun was beginning to set, making the sky glow a dark orange. It was a breathtaking sight.
Serena turned away from the window and glanced at the empty seats beside her, an inaudible sigh escaping her lips. Normally she would point out the amazing scenery and Bonnie would be squishing her face against the window; Clemont would be explaining how the sky looked the way it did and Ash would be grinning a huge grin and lift Pikachu up so that he could have a better view.
That moment however would probably never happen again.
Serena closed her window and leaned back in her seat again, closing her eyes. She had spent the last year traveling the Kalos region with her friends and she would be lying if she said she didn't miss them already. Seeing Bonnie cry like that just broke her heart and made her want to stay behind in her home region, but she knew that she had to leave. She wanted to make a name for herself, become something that couldn't be accomplished if she stayed home.
Besides, she wasn't the only one starting anew. Clemont was going to remain at his gym for awhile, Sawyer was helping Steven Stone with his research, Alain was turning over a new leaf and Ash was probably bound for a new region and adventure.
Ash… Serena found her cheeks heating up ever so slightly. All of her thoughts seemed to return to him. She opened her eyes again and lifted the window. The sky was now a darker orange with a small red tint, she could start making out a town way down below on the ground.
She bit her lip. She honestly didn't know if she just liked Ash a whole lot or if it was truly the stronger L word. How was she to know, she was only eleven years old, and he was a few years older than she was. Maybe it was only puppy love, a small crush that now that she was away from him, would disappear into a long ago memory.
The one thing she did know for certain though, was that she did not regret kissing him. The heat intensified and she found herself smiling slightly. She was worried about his reaction for a split second when he had just stared at her but then he gave her his biggest smile and waved goodbye. It had all worked out in the end.
The plane got lower and lower to the ground and the flight attendants made their final rounds. Serena just continued to stare out of her window, a longing smile on her face. She knew that one day she would see Ash and all her friends again and that thought alone made her feel like they were sitting right next to her.
She knew that she wouldn't be alone for long.
