"There! All done," Jo exclaimed as she finished putting cherry flavored Chap Stick on Haley, who was sitting on the bathroom counter.

"Nuh huh, I need tissue," the five year old exclaimed.

Jo shook her head at Haley's insistence and got some tissue. She held it up to Haley's lips, "Okay blot." Haley pressed her lips together hard, taking most of the Chap Stick off. Jo smiled to herself, "Okay, you look ready for school.

As Jo moved to put on her mascara, Haley pointed, "I want that too."

Jo looked at her sideways, "Oh no, missy. The lips are enough." She quickly finished and turned back to Haley, who had her arms crossed and her face scrunched up in anger. Jo laughed, "Oh you're making a grumpy daddy face!"

Haley huffed, "I am not!"

Jo reached over and tickled the girl, "Yes you are!"

Haley laughed and fought Jo's tickling, "Stop!" Jo laughed as she raised back up to finish her hair. Haley watched her carefully, "I want a braid today."

Jo looked over at Haley, "You said pigtails."

Haley shook her head, "Now I wanna braid."

Jo nodded, "A regular one?"

Haley shook her head and motioned with her hands, "One that comes up!"

Jo shook her head, "That's a daddy braid."

Haley was already jumping off the counter, "I'm gonna get him."

Jo called after her in vain, "He may not have time, Haley!"

She finished her own hair and ran across the hall to get Landon out of his crib and change his diaper and clothes. She heard Alex climb the stairs and give an exaggerated grunt in the hall as he picked Haley up. "What kind of braid are we doing?"

She heard Haley get excited, "The one that sits up like this!"

Jo shook her head and laughed at Landon, "Your sister is a mess. Yes, she is!" She smiled as Landon gurgled at her and picked him up to carry him into the bedroom so she could grab her phone. She looked into the bathroom and smiled at the sight.

She walked quietly over and saw Alex nod in understanding before picking Haley back up to stand her on the lid of the toilet, "Okay Hales, this is called a Dutch braid."

"Ooooooh," Haley gave, sounding impressed.

"Think you can remember that next time?" Haley nodded quickly as Alex chuckled, "Okay, try to be still so it will look good. We don't want it to look like mama did it."

"Hey!" Jo exclaimed from her spot.

Alex turned to her and grinned smugly with a sarcastic tone, "Hey. I had no idea you were standing there."

Jo narrowed her eyes, "I can braid hair! And I do a mean ponytail so watch it."

Alex smirked and turned back to Haley's hair, "Yeah, yeah." Jo watched admiringly as Alex filled his hands with Haley's hair and concentrated on the pattern of the braid. He glanced up and met her eyes in the mirror, "What?"

Jo shook her head, "Nothing." She then took a step towards him and smiled, "It's just…when I first met you, I could have never imagined that this would be us."

Alex met her eyes once again and grinned, "Me neither."

"And me neither," Haley added confidently.

"Yeah, what do you know about it?" Alex asked playfully.

"I know it all. That's what Aunt Cristina says about me."

"Yeah well she would be the expert on that," Alex retorted.

"Okay you guys, be good." Jo stepped forward to kiss Haley's cheek, "I love you." She looked over at Alex who had leaned forward to kiss Landon's forehead, "You're okay taking her to school?"

"Yeah, no problem."

Haley jumped excitedly, "Yea!"

Alex mumbled under his breath at the fallen hair as Jo stifled a laugh, "For the record, my braid looks better than that."

He glared at her out of the corner of his eyes, "Haley, didn't I tell you to be really still?"

"Oops, sorry daddy," the small girl said regretfully.

"It's okay, but be still this time. I'm going to try again."

Jo shook her head amused and leaned up to kiss him quickly, "I'll see you later, love you."

He called over his shoulder as he began to divide Haley's hair again, "Love you too."
