Haldir looked up sadly at the sky. He, and his company, stood on the other side of the hill. On the other side of that hill, was Helm's Deep. He knew what was going on- what they faced.

And he'd never been more scared in his life.

Scared, yes, but determined. And proud. Proud that he was chosen to lead the Elven Archers, proud that he was fighting alongside Men, and proud that he was fighting alongside Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, and Aragorn of the Dunedaine.

Particularly proud that he was fighting alongside Aragorn. He knew of the man's skills, and strength, and knew Aragorn intimately, perhaps as no other than maybe Arwen did. No, he knew Aragorn a *lot* more intimately than the she-elf did.

Haldir of Lorein knew what he was getting into- this fight would be like no other.

He knew what may come of it- death, of his comrades, and friends. Maybe even the death of himself.

But he would fight, bravely, courageously. And he would not let Aragorn down.

Haldir of Lorien would die before he let Aragorn down- and he would die proudly, knowing that he tried his best for his beloved.
