Over my dead body
She never meant to hurt him like she did, to frighten him, turn him to drink.
But she had. And she couldn't live with herself for it.
Tonks always knew she was different, that she would have...unusual children.
She just hadn't counted on them being half werewolf.
If she hadn't coaxed him into marrying her then he would still be sat with her, beaming at her as she traced his laugh lines.
But he wasn't with her.
As soon as she had told him she was pregnant he had muttered "over my dead body!" And disapparated before she could even call his name.
After a while he returned with a bouquet of her favourite pink lilies asking, no, begging for her forgiveness.
She had welcomed him back with open arms, all regrets forgotten.
When Teddy was born fit and healthy they decided that both she and Remus would take a step back from active order/auror work.
Remus had kept to the plan, as had she, all up until the night of May 2nd 1997.
Then it had changed; then he had left her with her mother.
"You're not coming with me Dora! Not over my dead body!" he had shouted at her before seeing the hurt he caused her.
"SHUT UP! don't say things like that Remus!" she shouted, silent tears falling from her dark orbs.
"Hush now, I didn't mean it literally. I love you, Nymphadora. I'll see you and our son when I get back." he soothed.
And she had believed him.
She never knew why she followed him that night, she just wanted her family together and safe.
She had been searching the castle for twenty minutes before she found him duelling with Dolohov.
He looked up at her, was shouting at her to get away...
Tonks watched as her husband of ten months perished before her eyes.
"REMUS!" she cried, sending off killing curses and stunners like there was no tomorrow...
For her, there wasn't. No more tomorrows, no happy ever after; just the darkness. the impenetrable, crushing darkness.
And as her Aunt pruned her family tree, Nymphadora Tonks reached her beloved, falling lifelessly to the ground over his dead body.
