He's given up on you.
His friends tried denying it, but even they know it's the truth. And it's obvious they're lying anyway, you can see that.
He's dating Dorcas now.
She's pretty, blonde, skinny, and a Ravenclaw. She's nothing like me.
You see them together, laughing under the beech tree by the lake.
His friends have even tried cheering you up.
It doesn't work.
You see them again, this time in the common room. He's sitting in the window seat, she's between his legs, just looking out the window.
That should be you, you think.
It's always been you.
Until now.
Two months pass. They aren't together anymore.
She broke it off; the whole school knows.
Whispers around the school saying "She couldn't take it anymore...it was great at first....but he's still in love with her- Lily Evans"
You don't believe it. Not for a second. You don't want to believe it.
One week later he approaches you on your way to dinner.
"Lily."
His eyes show sadness, regret, hurt, and love.
"I'm sorry."
"You don't have to apologize James, you've moved on, that's okay, be happy."
"I can't." he begins, "I can only be happy when I'm around you; you're the one I want- forever"
Your breath catches in your throat.
Your mind is buzzing, only partially registering that he's getting nearer.
Your eyes are locked on his, noticing they are a darker shade of brown; not the usual twinkling hazel...there's so much emotion in them. There always is.
Especially when he's around you.
"I love you Lily" he breathes right before his lips capture yours.
There is so much emotion put into that kiss.
So much love, sadness, happiness, hurt, comfort, every emotion affiliated with you.
With them.
"I love you too James." You breathe happily.
"Forever." You add as his hand clasps yours and you make your way to dinner, showing Hogwarts what love is all about.
