Title: Dancing
Author: Seraphina Jones aka The Mad Traveler
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: [Rose Tyler, Ninth Doctor] Captain Jack Harkness
Rated T because I never pick anything else in an attempt to not break the rules.
WARNING: The Doctor dances in this fic, so beware. Oh, and spoilers for The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances.
Jack turns and looks down his ship as Moonlight Serenade begins to play. Rose and the Doctor are dancing, or at least trying to. The room they're in is enormous, it's almost impossible.
"Well, hurry up then!" Rose calls from inside the ship.
The Captain runs in, taking his chance at escape. Ha! So much for 100% chance of my death.
The Doctor spins Rose, but twists her arm behind her back, and they stop dancing.
"Okay. And right and turn. Okay, okay, try and spin me again, but this time don't get my arm up my back. No extra points for a half-nelson."
"I'm sure I used to know this stuff," he pouts. "Close the door, will you? Your ship's about to blow up. There's going to be a draught." He adds snarkily.
Jack complies and the Doctor starts up the engine.
"Welcome to the Tardis." The Doctor says ceremoniously.
"Much bigger on the inside."
"You'd better be."
"I think what the Doctor's trying to say is you may cut in." Rose says almost flirtily. Grinning she grabs Jack's hand about to begin dancing.
"Rose!" The Doctor exclaims, "I've just remembered!"
"What?"
The music changes from waltz to swing - Glenn Miller's In The Mood, and the Doctor begins to dance grinning almost ridiculously.
"I can dance! I can dance!"
"Actually, Doctor, I thought Jack might like this dance."
"I'm sure he would, Rose. I'm absolutely certain. But who with?" he asks, still dancing around.
Jack chuckles and Rose grins, joining the Doctor. The pair dance while Jack looks on.
This time he seems to actually be able to dance. They dance around the console, Jack watching the whole time. The Doctor dips her at the end and Jack nods.
That was when Jack knew for sure, the two loved each other. It was obvious to everyone except for the pair in question. He just hoped they would realise it on their own, but he doubted it.
Well, he thought to himself, I'll just have to help them see that.
AN: It's really short, I know, but I thought it'd be fun to see inside Jack's head for a moment, a really cute moment, at that.
That's it.
Until next time,
Seraphina Jones
