Chapter I

Here for you always

~ ** ~

Tiny snow flakes fall from the white blanket in the sky. Lina stood on a hill, staring down at her hometown Zelfilia. She had finally made it. Lina had been traveling for days with no company. She grew bored of the life of a bandit killer and decided to come back home. It could never be the same as it was when he friends were around. Apart of her heart was missing. Something only her friends company can replace. Or at least one of them could replace. Gourry had left Lina for Sylphiel and had gotten married sometime over the summertime. It should have hurt Lina, but it didn't. She wasn't heartbroken about it at all. Her heart belonged to another.

A cold breeze blew through Lina's fiery hair that swayed in the wind. She approached the town, with a excited feeling in the pit of her stomach. As she walked in the streets, many people would stare, point, and whisper. Lina felt like fireballing them when she heard one man say, "Isn't that Lina Inverse the Dragon Spooker?" Her eyebrow twitched, trying to contain her anger. To hide her face, she pulled her hood up casting her face in shadow. Lina strolled up to a house that she used to call her own. Now Luna, her older sister. Was the only one living there now.

Lina nerviously walked up to the front door and knocked loudly. The door swung open and someone unfilimiar to Lina stood there. The man was tall and muscler, with a handsome face and long blonde hair. That nearly reminded her of Gourry. Accept this man had bushy eyebrows.

"May I help you?"

"Does Luna Inverse live here?"

"Luna Inverse? She moved out about five months ago."

"Oh, well thank you anyway." Lina said, and the man slammed the door shut in her face.

Lina shivered, and turned her back to her house to leave. Once she was about a mile away from where she used to live, she looked back. To soak in the old memories of her childhood. Later on that night, she was walking through a forest. Her body was half-frozen. She should have stayed at an inn, but for some odd reason she just felt like she had to leave Zefilia. How could Luna do that in the first place. Move away without even telling her. Would there be at least one person in her life that wouldn't leave her.

She gathered wood of what she could find that wasn't covered in snow. Melting the snow with a simple fire spell, she starts the fire. She wrapped her cloak around her body tightly. Trying to find some warmth. But her cloak was wet from the snow, that it was just making it worse. She shook uncontrolably and sneezed every once and a while. Her body became numb, and her mind became clouded. The last thing she remembered was passing out near her fireplace in the freezing winter.

Lina grumbles, and slowly opens her sore eyes. She felt like leaning up, but found herself to weak too. Her body was no longer numb. Lina felt warm inside a bed that was not her own. Looking over she saw someone standing before the fireplace. Someone she hadn't expected to see.
