A/N: one-shot of what happens BEFORE the reaping in ''Next Generation of Hunger Games: May The Odds Be Never In Your Favor."

So, while rereading what I wrote, I was wondering why I didn't start it out before Serafina was getting ready for the Reaping, being the lazy person I am, I didn't add it in, so I wrote it in a different document.

ENJOY!

Disclaimer: Suzanne Collins owns ''The Hunger Games'' and most of the characters.

The Morning of The Reaping

~Serafina's POV~

I get up early as I do pretty much every morning, I put on some clothes suitable for hunting, which usually includes my hunting jacket, boots and pants. I braid my dirty blonde hair into ''Fishtail'' style braids, as I call it.

I don't need to go hunting, my family has more than enough money and food, but it's more of a time waster and hobby than needing the food. My mom taught me to hunt when I was five. She took me into the woods when I was even younger. My mom and I hunt illegally, so we have to keep quiet when we go. What's left of the fence never has electricity, I never knew what happened to the fence, Mom never tells me, she only says ''I'll tell you when you're older.'' and she's been telling me that since I was four.

I walk downstairs and find my mom sitting on the couch drinking hot cocoa.

"Going hunting?" She asks. I nod my head 'yes' and head out.

I get to the fence and walk around it. The fence is not doing its job. I find the tree where I hid my bow and arrows. Hiking a bit farther into the woods I find the traps my best friend Luke Abernathy and I set up yesterday. I'm about to take meat out of the traps when I hear footsteps. I turn around so fast my braids hit me in the face.

"Relax, Seri, it's just me." he says. He says. It Luke. "Did I scare you?" Luke asks, seeing the startled look on my face.

"More than you know." I reply.

I taught Luke how to hunt, but most of the time he just watches me quietly.

"Today is the reaping." I say after a moment of silence.

"I know. But neither of us will be picked. Each of us is only in there once." He's trying to reassure me, it's not working.

"Yeah, once. Not zero times, there's still a chance." I say.

We sit down in the middle of the woods.

"I know it won't happen." he says. "But if one us does happen to be picked- I know neither of us will- will still be best friends, forever."

"Forever." I agree.

And with that, we head home to our houses in Victors Village.

A/N: I know that's short, but I had to write it. If you want to know what happens next read "The Next Generation of Hunger Games: May The Odds Be Never In Your Favor."

Please Review this. You could even write ''This sucks" or "It's good" I really don't care.
