Chapter 1: Confrontation?
Magnolia, Guild of Fairy Tail:
The Master; Makorov Dreyar's Office.
"HOW COULD YOU OLD MAN? HE'S YOUR ONLY SON!" yelled a clearly, very annoyed 18-year-old Laxus.
"Laxus, do not use that tone with me, you know fully well what your father has done and it would be stupid of you to argue with me about something so fruitless," replied a calm yet stern Makarov, his tone leaving no more room to argue against. Although the slight twitch in his eye indicated that he was fed up.
Laxus begrudgingly walked, out of the office, having composed himself first.
Suddenly a loud shriek was heard.
"Master Makarov, a young girl needs help!" Makarov flew out of the office and upon seeing a little girl with fiery red hair limping, he dismissed the crowd forming around them and set about helping the girl. (A/N I'm too lazy to write so just pretend that Makarov asked about her past and took her to Porlyusica to heal her eye).
-Time Skip- Few weeks.
"Listen up everyone, we have a new member joining our guild, her name is Erza Scarlet, she's 16 years old, please treat her kindly, thanks for your attention. You may return to what you were doing."
"HI MY NAME IS NATSU!" screamed an all fired up Natsu.
"Hey my name's Gray," said the shirtless boy.
"More like gay..." Natsu mumbled.
"Hey I heard that!" shouted Gray.
"So what are you gonna do about it?"
"Shut up flame brain," and with that Natsu and Gray started another fight.
Erza just sat there eating a mini strawberry cake oblivious to what was happening around her. Or rather, she just didn't care. Well, it's a shame she was about to be interrupted from her quiet bubble.
"I'm Mirajane and I challenge you to a duel. I'm the strongest female in Fairy Tail! And it's my job to put lowly newbies like you in their place. Don't want you to be acting out of line later on." Said a tiny silver haired girl, smirking down at Erza.
Erza in return, merely looked at her through guarded eyes, before putting the plate she was eating from down and getting up to walk away.
"Hey I was talking to you!" shouted Mirajane.
"Stop yelling, it's too early for my ears to start bleeding."
Almost fuming, Mirajane did well to compose herself quickly.
"As the strongest female in Fairy Tail I will make you pay!" she pointed to Laxus saying, "Laxus will help me too, won't you dear! After all since we're both the strongest, we should stick together right!" she batted her eyes at Laxus while she was speaking.
Laxus had the urge to cringe, but displaying such discomfort was beneath him, so he just scoffed and turned his back to her, going back to his seat.
Erza, though not being completely interested in this showdown Mirjane was requesting – demanding – noticed the exchange and nearly smiled at how Laxus seemed to dislike Mirajane while the girl was acting like some sort of leech to him.
She had felt a surge of power when he had walked into the guild, she had been immediately drawn to it, it interested her. She regarded Laxus' figure with cool eyes before returning her attention to Mira.
Laxus silently smirked, no one ever stood up to Mirajane, interested, he now decided to pay more attention to the display in front of him.
Mirajane on the other hand was beet red, clearing her throat, she asked, "Do you accept the challenge or are you too coward?"
Giving a small sigh, Erza turned back to look at Mirajane dead in the eye. "I will accept, however do not make this a waste of my time."
Mirajane, laughed very unusually loud, saying, "Be prepared to lose, seriously I am the best here, you have no chance against me."
She continued by saying, "The duel will be tomorrow at 2 in the afternoon. You better be there loser."
And with that she, flipped her silky silver hair and walked away. The calm but annoyed expression never left Erza's face as she too made her way to the guild exit.
Unnoticed by anyone who watched the whole exchange, Erza gave a small smirk, but Laxus caught it.
He couldn't help but wonder what she had in store to beat Mirajane. She wasn't as strong has him, but with her demon take overs she can easily wipe out a lot of guild members. She was nowhere near weak, and despite her bratty attitude, even Laxus had to admit, she knew what she was doing and she was powerful in her own right, thus making her the supposedly strongest female.
Laxus didn't particularly care for titles. Being called the strongest male meant little to him, after all there was always the Master and Gildartz who were both superior to him in strength, although they were much older and did have much of the experience that he lacked to back them up.
"Erza! I challenge you!" shouted Natsu and Gray at the same time.
They looked at each other before yelling "No, me first!"
"Can you guys shut up?" asked Erza, very quietly.
"Fight me", they both said.
With a sigh, Erza got up and agreed.
-In a Clear Area-
"I don't want to drag this out, so let's make it quick." said Erza.
"What do you mean?" asked Natsu.
" I want both of you to fight me at the same time so we can get this over with. I know you two work extremely well together, but I'll accept any consequences should I have misjudged my own strength." replied Erza.
It was true that Natsu and Gray worked very well together.
After hearing this everyone gasped, no one had every challenged both Natsu and Gray together at the same time, other than Mira and Laxus, however it had resulted in a draw for Mirajane and a win for Laxus who had just come out with a scratch or two. No one else in the guild could take them on.
Everyone already started making bets and most of them were betting on Natsu and Gray winning.
"Don't hold back, this would be some good training before the match tomorrow." Erza.
Gray shook his head to get rid of the shock. "Only Laxus has been able to beat us, and Mira only tied, just a warning to you though. No holding back, right flame brain?"
"Yeah no holding back, ice tit" said Natsu.
"Let's get started then," said Erza and they got into their battle position.
As soon as someone from the crowd yelled "BEGIN," the battle had truly started.
Right off the bat, "Re-equip, flame empress armour." Erza yells as she appears in a red outfit, some of the guild members started getting nose bleeds. Laxus on the other hand just smirked.
Erza summoned two of her normal swords and got into an offensive position.
"Ice lance!" shouted Gray, but much to his dismay, Erza dodged and landed a few metres away.
"Fire Dragons claw!" shouted Natsu but Erza dodged that too and aimed for a punch, which he just barely avoided contact with.
"Fire dragon's fire breath!" Natsu shouted, while Gray yelled out "Ice Blizzard!". The attack was a joint move, soon the flame and ice moulding together, becoming a raging mass of heat and ice.
Erza didn't move. The attack did a direct hit on her.
Everyone gasped. When the smoke cleared out everyone saw Erza standing there smirking and looking bored at the same time.
"HOW!?" shouted/asked Natsu and Gray at the same time.
Erza's swords had changed. They had an icy sheen to it. She was wearing a flame resistant armour while wielding ice resistant swords. She was merely able to brush the ice aside and let her suit absorb the fire.
"Flames have no effect on me. I'm going to finish this off now. Re-equip magic, Flight armour!"
And with that Erza was in the cheetah outfit. She summoned two daggers this time and started attacking at supersonic speed, jabbing at them from different angles, Natsu and Gray was forced to take on a much more defensive role as they couldn't detect where she was coming from. When Erza thought that they were weak enough, she used Sonic Claw and they were finished.
As the match ended, everyone who was watching, in other words, pretty much the whole guild stared at her in awe as came out of the battle with a few scratches, just like Laxus had once done.
"We tried our best yet we lost?" Said Natsu it sounded a lot like a question rather than a statement.
"Yeah," Said Gray, "Worst part is, she didn't even take us very seriously."
Everyone gasped, how on Earth did she beat them without giving it her all? Only Laxus did that in his battle with the duo. Could she be as strong as Laxus?
"I wouldn't want to go too hard on you. I don't plan on show my techniques so early. It was easier to just finish you off."
And with that Erza left the crowd in her wake, and made for her new room in Fairy Hills preparing for her battle with Mirajane on the following day.
That's the first chapter done. I sort of just edited the old one, because it was terribly written as it was made a very long time ago. I have about 2 or 3 more chapters done, but also need to be edited to sound less horrible. So hopefully I'll put those up soon as well.
I wish there were more Laxus and Erza fanfic out there, but oh well. Do let me know your thoughts!
