Rock

- why is it so hot?-

"Why is it so bloody hot?" Fanning himself tiredly with one hand, Seamus managed to prop himself up on one elbow and raise his eyebrow at her. She shrugged; a smile quirking at the corners of her lips. He let out a dramatic sigh, before falling back down, his hands resting on his chest.

She snuck a look over her shoulder, gnawing nervously on her bottom lip. Gods, even though she was sweating tremendous amount from her face right down to her toes, it was still the best she had felt in months. The bandages were gone from her face, and she had managed to grow out that patch of hair that Greyback had torn out, a clump of blonde hair in his hand. She was finally, finally, finally better even after the Healers had said she wouldn't make it, that she had lost too much blood to replace.

The heat wave made her feel alive. The sweat pouring down from her pores was welcomed and not wiped away with a grunt of disgust like the man lying on the bed behind her. Lavender gave one last look to the mirror, pulled her hair up into a bun, and with a sharp laugh, jumped onto the bed, bouncing up and down on her toes. Seamus groaned, but laced his hand within hers.

"I don't know," she teased, swatting him with her free hand. He closed his eyes, groaning heavily, a murmur stuck in his dry, raspy throat. She giggled at his behaviour, stray wisps of blonde hair tickling his face as she bent over him.

With Seamus by her side, she could go through anything.

Heatwave, smeatwave. Who really cared? The heat made her feel free. It was a symbol of the ever-changing seasons, and the passing of time, however slowly that seemed to be some days.

The scars didn't embarrass her as he linked his hand through her, lending her the strength she craved as the pair walked down the street.

Seamus was her rock, and he promised she could lean on him forever.
