"she acts like summer and walks like rain
reminds me that there's a time to change
since the return of her stay on the moon
she listens like spring and she talks like june"

Every time they say goodbye Caroline insist that they have to meet at least once a year, but they always end up, without any pressure, meeting more often. They even spent a summer together in Europe as backpackers a few decades ago. Moreover, it was still July and they had already met five times that year.
In the moment she enters the bar a few heads turn to face her, it's not surprising to him, after all she is still young and beautiful. He knows she has always been. Stefan once had heard the following phrase about vampires: not really alive but not dead enough. It was somewhat offensive, but sometimes, when he looks at himself he thinks it actually might be correct. Without belonging to either extreme, failing to be alive and failing to be dead. Nevertheless, whenever he looks at her, he immediately realizes the huge mistake the phrase really is. There was life emanating from her. To the point of the place seem a little brighter by her presence. She was just as bright as the sun.
She hugs him and starts talking about her last visit to Mystic Falls, on small changes that were made in the town and even on the Bonnie's descendants. They talk about Elena, Matt, Tyler, Damon, Bonnie, Jeremy and about old times in general. When she mentions her mother she looks a little crestfallen for a second, but then forces herself to smile and asks Stefan to tell him about Lexi. Caroline had never met her but she was sure that they would have been good friends… And at one point later in the night, they kiss. It isn't something so surprising at all, and it's not like it never happened before. It's just one of those things that come when you spend too much time with someone, and you watch the whole world change while there's still that one familiar face that remains the same… If they actually got into sex one day, Caroline knew exactly how the following morning would run, she would joke about what had happened to lighten their mood and they would agree that it had happened only by a mixture of alcohol and nostalgia. But right now the following morning seemed so far from that moment that she didn't really care.
Caroline knew that a person is not the same as a home but with Stefan it seemed close enough to be.
