Running and Seeking
They flew through the air that night after just gaining freedom. The clouds cloaked them softly like a never ending blanket. Glinda's arms wound around Elphaba tightly afraid to look down while she closed her eyes tightly. Elphaba held on to Glinda securely with one arm and held on to her broom with her hand while the trunk hung firmly on the handle the broom.
They wove past the clouds and Elphaba cackled, "My sweet, open your eyes, look at where we are."
Glinda slowly opened her eyes and screamed in surprise at how high up they were, Elphaba laughed when Glinda shrieked holding the other girl tighter to her.
Elphaba whispered soothingly, "Isn't it beautiful?"
Glinda looked down at the all of Oz displayed so openly to their eyes. "Yes but it's just as beautiful for the fact that we can look at it together, alive an unharmed."
Elphaba agreed softly, "That's right my sweet. The trouble is behind us now, we have a future to look forward to now, I don't know what it is exactly but we'll see won't we. Our future is ours to decide and no one can take that from us now, not unless we let them."
Glinda smiled softly as they travelled swiftly through the night. "I expect so. Oh I'm so tired Elphie."
Elphaba looked down at her little dear. "Sleep then my dear. Sleep. You have all the time in the world now. You can wait for the morning if you wish. After all I believe you have a right to now, after all you've been through. As if you didn't deserve a little compassion."
At that Elphaba gently kissed Glinda's forehead smiling as the broom glided gently through the air.
