Chapter 1 (Car Ride)
Callie's P.O.V.
Callie sat in the passenger seat listening to the low music coming from the stereo on the silent ride to meet a new family, which was normal for Callie. This ride was however different for two reasons. The first being that all she was able to think about was how to get Jude out of the custody of her last foster-father. The second difference was the silence in the car was not long-lasting. Every minute the woman next to her would tell her something new about the house that she was driving to and the family that she was to be staying with. She would say small random things in between the silence making it bare able, not that Callie was listening that is. Callie had too much on her mind to think about something as trivial as what this new house would be like.
Lena's P.O.V
Lena could tell that this girl had a lot more on her mind than she was ever going to tell anyone in her family. She felt sorry that she was only able to give this girl a safe place to stay for a short time, but at the same time she was nervous bringing a strange girl into her house, under the same roof as her children, when she had just gotten out of juvie.
This girl named Callie was hidden and kept a wall up that she was sure would crumble slowly around her family, but what would she find behind the mask? What secrets did this girl have that she was so desperate to hide from the world around her? Lena wasn't sure, but she would do her best to help this girl find where she belonged, just as Lena had when she found Stef and formed their family.
She pulled into their neighborhood and up to her house. She chanced a glance at Callie and happily saw her eyes get a little bigger. They got out and she noticed that Callie's wall was back up in a heartbeat. Lena unlocked the door and prepared herself for what came next.
