Disclaimer: I don't own One Tree Hill or Gossip Girl...But you all already knew that :)
She should have known better.
She really should have known better, after all she was a smart girl, back in Tree Hill she'd had a 4.0 grade point average and if she'd stayed she would have been a shoe in for Valedictorian.
But then again having a learned brain really had nothing to do with real intelligence and to put it bluntly when it came to matters of the heart, to falling in love, Haley James was still a struggling student.
It wasn't like she was a fool or anything, just slightly naive and still very much an innocent, her failed marriage to Nathan Scott, Tree Hills resident reformed bad boy, had taught her that she tended to follow her heart no matter how misguided it may be and that tended to get her into situations where it was clear she was in way over her head.
At least that's what being divorced at seventeen should have told her.
The minute she'd walked into Chuck Bass' club looking for a job and laid eyes on him all her hard learnt lessons went flying out the window.
She blames her parents, their countless stories of how they met, of her father's hell cat ways and her mother's domestication of him coupled with the family movie nights when her whole family would gather around the family room television set and watch classic cinema like Gone With The Wind, Rebel without A Cause and A Streetcar Named Desire had left her with a deep seated adoration for the Anti – Heroes of the world.
She couldn't help it, she was a walking cliché, the good girl who always fell for the bad boy and if Nathan was James Dean in a basketball uniform then Chuck was definitely Marlon Brando in a purple check suit.
There's a million and one reasons why she shouldn't feel for him, why it's wrong to be falling in love with him, he's her boss for one and she's really in no position to start a new relationship so soon after ending the one she had with her ex husband but when he peers at her over the rim of his scotch glass, the half smirk on his lips hidden behind crystal but shining clearly in his eyes, Haley knows it's time to get ready for her next round of classes.
The lessons are about to begin all over again.
Done and Done :)
