If Daniel was Fire, than Sam was Water. Cool and soothing, she controlled the liquid element. Like the water that she embodied, she couldn't be controlled, nor kept confined. She was wild, untamed, but not as passionate as Fire. She was a calmer, more peaceful element that couldn't be ruffled.
She healed all hurts, comforted all pains, sorrows, fears. She wouldn't stop for anything; nothing in her path could slow her down. She fought for all she was worth, and she succeeded in everything, as Water must. She was swift, and calm, and brave, and glidedrolledswirled through life with a reassuring, calming personality that put everyone at ease.
And so, when he looked back, looked back at the frothing, foaming, crashing waves that beat so relentlessly against the rocks. And, she was like them, calm and deceiving and smooth, and suddenly could turn into deadly, colliding furious waves that could destroy the world, given a chance.
And, he turned back, just once, and saw, with detached satisfaction, that she had been controlled, taken over, by her element, just as Daniel had been. And, he wondered if it would be the same for all of them.
And now, when it was just them two, just him and Teal'c, and he could hardly bear the loss, he turned, and walked away.
They both did.
The two of them.
The only remaining members of the greatest team in history.
And they walked on.
