Disclaimer: I do not own anything in the Familiar of Zero universe. Nor do I make any money off of this. Possibly going towards AU.
"We wouldn't be standing here today without the bravery of Saito Hiraga, who sacrificed himself to save us from the Albion forces. We are forever in his debt" announces Queen Henrietta somberly.
Stifling a sob as she stands by the grave marker with Saito's name, despite the lack of a body, Louise mourns while her fellow classmates slowly file past, each paying their respects to her dead familiar and recent husband.
"I didn't know Louise had gotten married" whispers Eleonore to Cattleya.
"Neither had I" answers Cattleya equally as quiet.
Laying a single red rose on the ground in front of the gravestone, Guiche give Louise a hug before walking away.
"Interesting. I didn't know I was dead, did you, Derf?" comes a familiar male voice.
"I didn't know either partner" comes Derflinger's voice.
Everyone's heads turn around and stare at what most thought to be an apparition. Looking up from the ground, Louise stops sobbing to stare at Saito.
"Um, Louise, I'm back" states Saito hesitantly standing at the back of the rows of the chairs filled students and facility.
As Saito's message begins to penetrate Louise's jumbled thoughts, Louise dashes down the center of the aisle and wraps her arms around him, half screaming and half moaning his name.
"Is it really you?" asks Louise still clinging to Saito, tears still running down her face.
Giving her a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek resulting in a blushing Louise, Saito answers, "I'm back to protect you from harm."
As a fresh stream of tears, now in joy, run down Louise's face, she kisses him on the lips. "Don't ever leave me again" demands Louise just loud enough to be heard by Saito before resuming their kiss.
Author note: Thanks to all who read, review, etc. I wanted something short and sweet (and obviously a little more romantic than the ending of season two of the anime provided). I am willing to continue with this (AU of course) once I obtain season three on disc (as neither Google Play or Crunchyroll have the third season), and provided reviewers would like me to continue this.
